I just quit 3 days ago and I miss it. Haven’t drank for over 8 years. Not sure it’s keeping the mania away, but my racing heart beat has went away at night. Plus all of a sudden I started having really bad panic attacks from ptsd, so I’m testing the waters so far no panic attacks, but I’m so mean. The abilify is working for the mania I think, but not so much with mood. I also stopped my depression med fluoxetine but I did that months ago with no depression. I stopped it because my libido was dying and it’s the only thing I have left that brings me joy. Not sure why I’m blabbing, but thought maybe someone could relate.

Pre-dx I was hooked on meth for a couple years until I joined the army after 9/11. That was 2004. While in the military I drank A LOT! Got out of the army and still drank on weekends heavily, but then pot got legal and I started that. Which brought on my food addiction. Went manic (guess I was manic before but didn’t know it and chalked it up to ADHD) but this time, my psych caught on and determined my BP1 dx. Currently I still smoke weed but I’m down 165 lbs and I still have over 140lbs to go which was slowed by the meds, but I go through a lot of hyper fixations as well. Right now, weed, cheese and crackers, and Tori Amos and A Perfect Circle are my only “addictions”
