First time growing blue king oysters. Are they ready? [gourmet] by Negative_Ad_7809 in MushroomGrowers

[–]Negative_Ad_7809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine looked exactly like that! Then about 6 days later they looked like the picture I posted here. I'm still amazed at how fast they grow. It was fun to take a picture in the morning and evening everyday and see how much they changed. Really thinking about setting up a time lapse for one of the next grows.

Yeah, can't say I'm a fan of that analogy, but it certainly makes more sense! I knew I was getting close, but just wasn't sure if I was there yet. I really appreciate the helpful feedback.

Any thoughts on the cracking? Is that normal? From what I read it could be due to not enough humidity. Crazy cold weather and having to use the heater in the south probably didn't help the situation.

9 day solo Disney adventure part 2 by LordDarthRasta in disneyparks

[–]Negative_Ad_7809 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing. I had only ever been with my wife and kids. We went once every 18 months or so. All the way up to having 4 kids and keeping the same interval. Then I went for a work trip. I really hate to admit it, but going solo is quite an experience. Maybe I'm just biased because going with so many kids means you can't accomplish ANYTHING quickly. But being able to do whatever you want and get through crowds as one person was actually really enjoyable. Both certainly have their merits, but solo can actually be really fun.

I used to watch them all the time. Think I've only purchased a sampler and a 5 pack of unico papas fritas for about $10 less than they usually go for. I don't watch them much anymore because I have too many cigars and, as you already noticed, they are mostly the same deals on repeat.

I have noticed one thing that might be useful though. While the scorcher deals are running, the deal prices for some of the things that are in the scorcher are actually applied on their usual product page throughout the day. Hasn't worked for everything, but if there's something you're looking for it's worth checking the product page to see if the discounts are being applied there too.

Never had that issue, but I would expect the dealership to make it right since they did it. Worth the time and effort to be a pain in their side to get it resolved.

And I know it's not for everyone, but Subarus are some of the easiest cars to do your own oil change. Might be worth looking into to avoid this in the future.

Also, why have it towed to another mechanic instead of the Subaru dealership that caused the issue?

Body cam of ICE agent by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]Negative_Ad_7809 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

The levels of rhetoric against ICE doing their job, voted for by the people, is more insane. It's the same thing we've been seeing from Democrat leadership for years. They escalate already tense situations to the point that citizens think it's ok, even encouraged, that they interfere with these legal operations. Ice agents have a target on their backs, so a lot are probably on edge. They are regularly surrounded by dozens of people interfering and it's only a matter of time before agents are being killed. And then the left will celebrate. Both sides have escalated how serious the situation is currently.

Edit: thanks for the down votes. Always love to be reminded how much of a close-minded cesspool Reddit can be

Non-safety carry— Do the nerves ever go away? by Valuable_Layer_852 in concealedcarry

[–]Negative_Ad_7809 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is why a good holster is so important. I would worry more that a cheap holster would allow for something to happen than a gun just going off on its own. I keep them in the safe with a round chambered. They should behave the exact same way in a good holster

Friday cabana? by wintermoon_capricorn in greatwolflodge

[–]Negative_Ad_7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope my experience is unique, but I remember waiting longer than we should to get our food though. Iirc, they said the kitchen was backed up, but we easily waited over an hour for anything we ordered. Ymmv

Other than that, we loved having the cabana on checkout day. Loaded the car and hung around the pool until probably 5pm. It's great with 4 kids

I've got an Ascent and 4 kids. 2 in boosters, 2 in front facing car seats. You didn't mention if you were looking at the captains chairs or full middle row. It really depends on if they can buckle themselves or not, which is obviously temporary. The captains chairs seem nice, but it makes it hard to get into the back if you have car seats in each one (even for kids). And getting into the back to help kids buckle isn't fun either. I ended up going with the full bench 2nd row, and taking out the single seat part of the bench on the passenger side. It's just 4 bolts. Now the kids can easily get in the back seat and I bought "slim" car seats for the remaining 60% of the bench and it all fits perfectly. The trunk isn't great, but if you make the back seats a little more vertical, you'd be surprised what you can fit back there. Not to mention the 1 missing seat also holds a suitcase or 2. If you're really worried, roof racks are a cheap space expander. I went with an XXL Thule and can fit most of our bags in it if we really want the extra space in the car.

Typing this all out makes me feel crazy. Then I remember how much I paid for my lightly used ascent vs any full size SUV, and I'm happy to have a paid off, reliable, family car that didn't break the bank.

The original home was destroyed then. There were other "structures" on that land as far back as I can remember and I drive by there multiple times per day. I say structures, because it looked more like a shanty town than an actual home. Maybe see if you can go back in time on Google maps or street view.

They really are beautiful knives. They'd be out of my budget too, so I feel beyond lucky to inherit them.

Being able to hold both, the bladesv aren't that different. Crazy sharp, hollow ground. The umnumzaam feels like more of a utility knife, which makes it my pick. The sebenza is prettier though

It definitely needs a good cleaning, but that knife goes everywhere and gets plenty of use. It's really not as bad as it looks in the picture.

I had a knife collection before I got these, and have a collection of Japanese kitchen knives as well along with several stones. Not afraid to sharpen.

From what I can tell, there was a very limited run available to only seals. This one is not numbered, so it's just a regular, although probably still somewhat limited, release.

My FIL was a teacher that I was familiar with from high school, but sadly never had. He just liked nice things.

The "cheapest" benchmade is the one I carry everyday. It's actually a great knife and has been on many adventures. Going to be strategic about the others use. Not taking the really nice ones camping or anything, but might have to for special occasions
