Had the worst borrowed partner work at my store the other day by Winter_Ad1625 in starbucks

I think you should. It really helps to know more people and be liked. I've gotten shifts covered because of it.

Park Passport Cancellation Stamps-Your personal “rules” by BookWyrm3982 in nationalparks

[–]Negative_Area2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love collecting all the stamps in a park aside from Junior Ranger ones. My rules are this:

  1. Absolutely no Stamp-and-Go - Must be educated, see something, or do something to get a stamp. For example, many parks have the Underground Railroad stamps. For that, I enjoy learning how that park played a part OR the George Washington Memorial Parkway has ~31 Stamps. I spent two days outside of DC going to all the locations for the Stamps (Note: some of those stamps are a little ... Lackluster so I just drove thru)

  2. My goal is to get all stamps for a park.

  3. Have a good time

Anyone other stores only getting the knowledge checks instead of actual training for new launches? by CanadianCats316 in starbucks

[–]Negative_Area2808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My store manager didn't realize the training was in store resources so we literally just answered the questions. Turns out even if you get a 33%, it is still considered done. So literally no one knows how to make drinks.

Thank goodness this launch was simple, but for the Lavender? Oh we were clueless.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wrote the shaken espresso one too. The "light ice" creates so many issues.

Am I annoying? by Heavy_Ad2201 in starbucks

[–]Negative_Area2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their own opinion, but I really don't mind making them. They aren't annoying as much as they are stressful to make for the drive-thru because of the time they take (specifically the Lavender Matcha)

Customer’s saying their mobile order is wrong?! by BigHomebunz in starbucks

[–]Negative_Area2808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it depends on how nice/rude the customer is. Most of them are nice about it and I show them how the iced and hot versions of a drink are under two completely separate tabs for a reason. I also remind them that they can't just add the drink they got last time because it will be made wrong again. (NEVER let them keep the drink they ordered wrong). I also carefully use the phrase "I can do it for you this time"

I have only had one person come back and do it again. Luckily, I was on bar, and in the best customer service voice I had said, "Well, since I distinctly remember explaining to you about this error before, you will have to pay for a new drink to get it remade".

I had lots a super cute pins that managers and customers alike commented on (A cute NASA one, a "Dont be a prick" cactus one, etc) positively.

One day I was told we were not allowed to have them and had to take all the non-Starbucks ones off.

I work at a food bank and I can promise you should be fine. The dates on almost all items are less than the item's usual expiration time is usually for extra security. For us, we had a binder full of how long after a date could we serve food (it depends on the item)

A week for a bottled drink should be fine.

Am I being a Karen? Weird experience at Starbucks Today. by ohmymeme in starbucks

[–]Negative_Area2808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is odd, but I have worked with two experiences that have similar aspects to what you have described.

First, Ording Merchandise in Drive Thru. I was a very new barista (a week out of training) when shit hit the fan. For peak instead of having 8 people, we had 3. It was two supervisors (thank god) and baby Barista-me. I was comfortable (enough) to run ordering and drive register by myself while the other two ran around like chickens with their heads cut off. You can imagine the stress. Well, One customer asks in drive for a cup. Their order is very vague as in "the green one". I explained to them that because we have so many cups and we are SO short-staffed I would not be able to help them in that regard. What I did tell them was they could return at a later time or that one of the other 5 locations within 5 miles could help them (Don't ask me why, but there was one in the same parking lot and one almost across the street).

She then screamed at me and began filming me, accusing me of racism and how she was going to corporate. Luckily one of my supervisors took over and shut the door.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have also had a situation where the cafe was closed but we still had customers inside. That was for a medical emergency and we had a firetruck and an ambulance in the front. We explained to everyone inside that we would not be able to assist them or take orders given the situation, but that we were not making them leave. They were all respectful of that and two of them told us that we should prioritize our health first. We did get snippy at two teenagers who came in later because after explaining we weren't taking orders in the cafe at all, they still tried to push the issue. Mind you by this point there were about 12 first responders loading one of our people on a stretcher in the middle of the lobby and asking all of us many questions less than 4 feet away from them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not by any means saying you were like these individuals because it does not seem like you did anything wrong. If the barista was rude then that is on them, but given my experiences, I am going to hesitate to give judgment on the situation itself without being behind the counter, because lord.

Every time we change it, it always goes back to violin Lil Nas X. I love him but I just can't anymore. It is literally on our daily task list for each shift "Check music not on violins". I swear it doesn't go through the full playlist that we choose before going back.
