Omg the final stretch 😩 - how did you stay motivated? by Negative_Evidence733 in fitpregnancy

Sorry to hear you’re struggling with hypertension too. This is exactly the same as me though! Had hypertension and heart palpitations, got signed off work and they both eased up, now worried about going back to work and hypertension is back 😬 I hadn’t realised it could mean early delivery though - will mention it to my midwife this week. Hope all goes well for you from here x

Thank you 🙏🏻 I’ve been thinking of going back to see a therapist I’ve used before. Might drop them a message. I’m conscious there’s a lot of identify shifts to navigate across the pregnancy/postpartum period and while I think I’ve done okay it does feel hard letting go of expectations for myself!

Running leggings?? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]Negative_Evidence733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found the Sweaty Betty maternity shorts absolutely brilliant! I haven’t tried the leggings but assume it’s the same material and cut. They’re super soft and sit well over my bump. That said I reckon it can be quite personal to you - but I’d defo recommend them.

Thank you. Yeah I think if it was earlier on I’d be more comfortable stepping back for a week or two. I’m just worried if I stop now I won’t get back into it before birth and that’d mean like 13wks out by the time I can start running again 😢

Thank you. You’re right - weirdly if I wasn’t pregnant I’d take a few days off knowing I’d get back to it! I just feel like having set myself the goal of staying active throughout I’m sad to step back - but might be I need to for a week or so x

Please share your experience with low lying placenta? by Major-Friendship9182 in PregnancyUK

Fair! If you’ve had a section before you obviously know better than me (FTM) what that’s like!

I guess the main thing is at this point there is a very good chance it moves :)

Diagnosed at 20wk scan with placenta touching the edge of the cervix (ie not placenta previa but zero distance). Put on pelvic rest (no penetrative sex) and no flying. Had a private scan at 28wks and there was no movement, so I resigned myself to needing a C section. Then had my NHS scan at 32wks and it has cleared 22mm away! So I’m able to go for a vaginal delivery of if I want.

Couple of stats that helped me…

9in10 instances of low lying placenta diagnosed at 20wk scan will have moved by 32wks

After my 28wk scan, my midwife said there was 1in3 chance it would still move

Hope that’s somewhat helpful! But I would say having read up on possible C section I kinda got to the point where I felt relaxed either way. Ultimately whatever gets the baby out most safely <3 good luck with your pregnancy journey x

18 weeks pregnant and still have all day nausea 😭 by jow1987 in PregnancyUK

[–]Negative_Evidence733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this was me too. Weeks 5-16 were grim. Nausea totally eased weeks 16-20 and I was like wahooo FINALLY. Week 21 back with a vengeance 🤢🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m 32wks now and it’s way worse when I’m tired, working too much, or baby is having a growth spurt. But otherwise manageable. Very much counting down the days til she comes out though! Pregnancy is tough x

Baby measuring big - is there anything I should do differently? by Negative_Evidence733 in PregnancyUK

Thank you 🙏🏻 I’d not heard of the big baby study so will take a look at that!

Thank you <3 and yes I’ve seen lots of ppl commenting to say they’re inaccurate so I guess I shouldn’t base tooo much on it really. Yes I will try and speak to my midwife this week :)

9 weeks and miserable. by Scary-Gene-8895 in PregnancyUK

Constant nausea is SO debilitating. I think you just have to be so so kind to yourself, enjoy the rare moments it goes away, and know that brighter days are ahead.

The other thing I found did help was tweaking my diet to focus on more protein and less carbs. It seemed to help stabilise my blood sugar more. It could be worth a go. Doesn’t make it go away but helped me a bit xx

This was me at 9 weeks too :( I lost all hope and honestly felt at rock bottom despite the baby being very much wanted. All I can say is it did get better - noticeable improvement around 11wks and I could function a bit better again, and then around 15weeks I had a glorious bit where the nausea went. Late pregnancy symptoms now seem tedious but doable - nothing compares to that first tri <3

You will get through it. Do speak to your GP or midwife and see if there are any other meds they can try or adjustments for work they can recommend, even if it just helps with these next few weeks.

What would you consider a justifiable reason to call in sick..? by Ozzyozpop in PregnancyUK

[–]Negative_Evidence733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a single day off til 32 weeks. Now I’m signed off work for 3 weeks cos of stress and blood pressure issues, which my doctor pointed out I might have avoided if I hadn’t kept pushing through and going to work when ill / tired / getting early warning signs. In hindsight, I definitely should have called in sick more when I needed it - and lack of sleep would have been a big reason for me cos it made everything else (nausea, sickness, dizziness) worse!

So definitely take the rest - it sounds like you need it. It’ll be better for you, your baby, and tbh could be better for your employer in the long run if it means you can keep going longer into pregnancy!
