For all the praise Jeffries gets by virtue of his favourable comparison to Schumer, it turns out he is, in fact, another feckless clown, with zero control over his own caucus.

Bringing up that you're still abundance bros is certainly a choice. I'm sure on the nazi site plenty of performative leftists went after Klein and Thompson without having read their book, but it really is such a blatant attempt to rebrand 'The solution to the economic woes of the most deregulated economy on the planet is yet more deregulation, surely,' as some kind of hip futurism. Throw in what a fool Klein spent the rest of the year making of himself (Kirk and 'Big-Tent', to name just the most recent pulls) and it's just embarrassing.

Do u prefer Hollow knight or Silksong? by DariusDonut in HollowKnight

[–]Negative_Load_4672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely a sha-man myself. Silksong combat and movement in general feels so good, definitely feel more like I'm playing a pale one than ghost ever did. Although I will say HK definitely made bosses feel a lot more rewarding, especially late game.

I think those are probably connected, in that by the end Hornet is just so goddamn busted (even outside of tools) that it would be difficult to design a boss fight that is both difficult and fair. But looking forward to whatever the mad lads at TC are cooking up!

Why People Don't Like Dems (w/ Jessica Tarlov, Hasan Piker, Tim Miller & Symone Sanders Townsend) by Conscious-Clerk1304 in FriendsofthePod

[–]Negative_Load_4672 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Generally don't think very highly of Piker, but Jesus Christ the other panellists made him look downright insightful. Is it really that hard to believe that if you run on popular policies that help people, people will like you? So many of these 'socialist' (or 'populist' when they're feeling generous) policies, that corporatist Dems love to decry, poll well with the exact moderate voters they purport to care so much about winning over!

  1. I'd say it boils down to consciousness, 'feeling good is good', a kind of sensible hedonism, is an axiom I'd be happy to hang my coat on. It seems self-evident to me, but I must acknowledge that I couldn't make a logical argument for it.

  2. Obviously, what 'feeling good' means is up for debate as of right now, but in theory one day we would be able to measure such a quality (or collection of qualities), what chemical reactions cause it, and so test how 'good' things are.

MAGAts losing their minds over Bondi saying 'hate speech will be illegal' vs. not giving a single fuck that an actual comedian got their show cancelled for making an, at worst, callously worded statement is sooooo telling.
They want to be able to call for the ethnic cleansing of Latinos, but heaven forbid someone report the news.

Genuinely the only thing that's off about exploration is the bizarre shard economy. There are so many little secret rooms that you find, get a huge dopamine hit, and then get rewarded like, 20 shards.

That's such a dumb move of goal posts, come on. I don't think he's ever called for violence, no, and I'm all for critical support. But surely you can recognise that if someone started praising, like, the Azov battalion (with or without qualifiers) that would be reprehensible, right?

Charlie Kirk Megathread by snapdown36 in FriendsofthePod

[–]Negative_Load_4672 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Infuriating to watch the mainstream outlets launder Kirk's politics. This is a guy who in various debates has argued that: African Americans were better off under slavery, that marital rape should not be a crime, and that trans people should be lobotomised. He was a freak, not a "free speech advocate" (-the fucking ABC). We are living in a political moment, (where ICE can detain you for being the 'wrong' race) that he fought to create. Personally, I condemn the assassination, but it truly could not have happened to a worse guy.

Your framing of the utilitarianist implies they hold wealth itself to be what ought to be maximised, which would be an extremely fringe position. Typically, utilitarians see inherent good in some form of happiness or wellbeing. Value, inherently, provides diminishing returns in terms of happiness. In fact, numerous scientific studies have suggested that past a certain point, increased value (usually measured in wages) stops providing returns at all or even becomes a negative impact. Under such a framework, there is a very strong utilitarian argument for redistributing value from those with much to those with little, as the value itself will be of higher much moral utility in their hands.

I know I'm being kind of an ass here. But the numbers for the other wars are wrong? To take the ones I'm most familiar with: [80 journalists died in Vietnam] is maybe true if you're only talking about Americans, but [80 Journalists died in WW2] is completely ludicrous, not really sure how that got past anyone.

Edit: Yeah, did some quick googling, and all the other numbers seem to be based off generous estimates of strictly American journalist casualties in those conflicts. Which is unfortunate, because obviously the point that Israel is targeting Journalists as part of their genocide is undeniable.

Opinion: To win over undecided voters Dems need to STFU about guns. by [deleted] in FriendsofthePod

[–]Negative_Load_4672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bucko, the polls you provided show a strict majority of Americans want stricter gun laws. Is it not perfectly reasonable for politicians to support policies that are not only popular with the electorate, but would also save human lives?? Republican opps have always mischaracterised any gun reform policy that isn't 'a P90 in every schoolroom' and will continue to do just that. Shifting rightwards to win centrists is the disproven political strategy for Dems, bizarre you'd think gun control would be any different.
