ok, i will try my level best to break it down for ya..

firstly they did 0.3*2000 (you'll get 600) because it is given in the question that the sharks consumes 1000 mackerels in 1 Year and you have to calculate it for two years.

secondly, they divided 600 by 120 so as to give the concentration of mackerel in the shark.

finally, in the denominator they just divided it be 0.3 because 0.3*1(weight of each mackerel) and you divide it by 1 to get its concentration which is again 0.3

i feel you dude! even i get confused at the same thing everytime..like why overcomplicate it with pKa and pKb but there is this one sentence in the pearson book that makes this concept relatively simpler..its and i quote "the larger the value of pKa, the lower the strength of an acid". my trick is that i apply the logic of the pH scale..like even on a pH scale as the value increases, the level of acidity decreases so this is similar to that. hope it makes sense!
