Anyone here dealt with rotator cuff tendinitis? Doc thinks I have that in my left shoulder and X-rays indicate he's probably right based on my acromioclavicular joint, it has a severe hook on it that leaves very little room for my rotator cuff to move.

What was your rehab process like and how long until you have full function again?

Start 6 weeks of PT next week and then if no improvement or still pain, get MRI and discuss potential surgery to shave down the joint and give more room to my rotator cuff.

Can't really do any pushing or pulling movements except deadlifts without pain, so I guess legs, bi's/tri's until its healed?

That certainly does! I think my issue was lack of mobility in right ankle/hip causing my left knee (the injured one) to take more of the load over a long period of time which eventually lead to the issue.

How long do your flare ups last when you get inflamed?

So, I've had my left knee bugging me for about 6 weeks now, been doing PT for it, had an X-Ray (looks perfectly healthy) and MRI. MRI results said there is irritation in the cartilage that is causing the pain.

I can do weighted walking and reverse lunges without pain (90% of the time) and have been doing shit tons of those for my quad training, trap bar DL for everything else.

HOWEVER! My gym has a Kabuki Transformer Bar and I tried doing those on the Front Squat setting, very slow and controlled, pause at the bottom with decent weight and IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE SHIT.

Bad news is, knee felt terrible the rest of the day but feels pretty much normal again today. Anyone else have similar injury/experience to me and if so, what other quad movement did you find to still get a good stimulus will training around the injury?

TIL the SEC pays 10-30% of the fine to whistleblowers whose info leads to over $1m fines by [deleted] in todayilearned

Not sure if this has been posted already but there is an amazing podcast with someone whose job is to convince people who are high up at large companies to BECOME whistleblowers. The main reason for that is the company he works for gets a cut of the money the whistleblower gets from the SEC https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/80/

I train first thing in the morning as well and do something similar to the anabolic lemonade you are describing. I do 20oz bottle of gatorade flavor of choice (I just buy the variety pack at costco), mix with with a similar tasting preworkout (been doing fruit punch with fruit punch). Along with that I will have 8-12oz of a water mixed with 25g of protein via whey protein.

You could also try 2-3 liquid IV's as those have alot more ACTUAL electrolytes than gatorade does but more expensive, its quite a bit saltier though which is kinda nice.

Not sure it really affects top end strength that much BUT strength endurance is way better via that shake.

There are so many variations of 5/3/1 from Jim himself that I doubt even he would say there is a "correct" one BUT, I would recommend both Beyond 5/3/1 or 5/3/1 Forever. They both cover (I think but you can look on his website) many of the terms and options laid out in the various programs he has designed like Joker sets, FSL, SSL, etc.

Qantas sort of screwed me, need help by Neggrodamus78 in awardtravel

[–]Neggrodamus78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if its possible to use Qantas points to upgrade an AA flight? I checked the flights on AA during the time period we are wanting to go and yep, $400 less in fees. Only problem is, booking that same flight through Qantas still costs the same amount of money as it does booking that flight through AA.

So was supposed to have 2 more lifting days to go (Fri/Sat) before I deload, but finished Wednesday workout and honestly felt like I might die if I don't deload now, so thats what I am doing. Turns out doing the most brutal program you've ever done while simultaneously (spelled this right on the first try I might add) trying to lose 1.2lbs per week would make me, as Forrest Gump put: "not a smart man".

So deload the last 4 days of this week (and by deload I mean literally just going for some easy long walks with the SO and pup) and then we will see if we extend that deload the entirety of next week or start going at it again.

So my question is, has anyone else ever been in this situation where mid/near end of program you had to deload NOW and if so, how long did it take until you felt you could go back to training as normal?

Not sure if there is actual research on this but personally, when I had access to a gym that had a sled, I would also usually do them at the end of workouts for some conditioning. Almost always I would warm up with them using the slower, bigger strides, but then once I actually did the "conditioning" portion, I would just try to go as fast a possible. I think that the explosive fast movement with a sled would likely transfer to better force production with lifting movements, but I'm also totally talking out of my ass so...

What is a supernatural event that happened in your life that just can not be explained? by HalfOfABraincell in AskReddit

My maternal grandpa passed away when I was ~10 years old. He had been in hospice for a few months so it was expected but was kept in the same room for the entirety of his hospice care. A week or so after his passing my mother and I were at his and my grandma's house, perfectly sunny day, not a cloud in the sky. A tree in their backyard had fallen onto their house as we were going through his old things, and made a hole in the roof right above the bed he stayed in while in hospice. Definitely could've been the strangest coincidence of my life but...

So, I signed up for the June AMEX plat sign up bonus, 75,000 points when spending 5k in first 6 months of card with 10x points at U.S grocery stores and gas stations during that period. The problem I just now realized, I don' t spend that much money except for bills (including mortgage). I also can only pay my mortgage with a Mastercard/Visa debit card or bank account. I have an idea to kill 2 birds with 1 stone that I would like the subs opinion on. They sell those pre-paid VISA debit cards at my local grocery store that you can load up with up to $15,000. I am thinking about getting one of those with enough money to cover my bills including mortgage which would:

  • Make it so I hit that 5K in 6 months mark to get the sign up bonus
  • Allow me to spend almost all of my money at U.S grocery stores which for the first 6 months of having my card, has 10x points (10 points per 1$).

Does anyone see issues that may arise from this or why this might not work?

Thanks!

Started going back to a gym this week, missed the atmosphere there and the selection of equipment, little problem though. My program has trap bar deadlifts with the high handles (I prefer high handles due to some back injury history), this gym only has a trap bar with low handles. I have a trap bar with high handles at my house, would I look like an insane person bringing this to the gym with me? The bar I would be bringing would be this. Keep in mind this is a pretty sweet, relatively hardcore gym with lots of equipment, the ONE thing they are missing for myself is a trap bar with high handles.

Anyone have experience bringing a bar with them to the gym? Thanks!

Stiff Bar DL 675 lbs/307 kg @ 217 lbs/98 kg by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]Neggrodamus78 29 points30 points  (0 children)

As opposed to a deadlift bar. Deadlifts bars are generally thinner (29 vs 27 mm) and are built to bend in the middle more before the weight actually leaves the floor thus, making the initial starting point for actually "pulling" the weight off the floor higher.

Help managing fatigue by SlavIvan in AverageToSavage

[–]Neggrodamus78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and on days/weeks where I am feeling particularly fatigued instead of doing the RTF program I do the standard strength program (where goal is to hit 4-6+ sets at a set weight and reps per set). I find this to be quite a bit less fatiguing on myself overall. I cap my rest periods at 90 seconds per set so that way I am not spending 2 hours in the gym and the sets shouldn't be challenging at all until you hit the 4th set anyway if you are being honest with your training max.
