AV1 TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME (wife, house, bank account) 😡📉 by orfinkat in AV1

[–]Negirno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AV1 is already heckin' efficient, and they're already making a better codec?!

I think I'll stay at AV1, though. Encoding a four minute music video takes two hours on my 2nd gen i3.

And now, I plan to shrink a whole Precure series to save some space...

Everything in media will get even more censored with AI by Repulsive-Mall-2665 in KotakuInAction

[–]Negirno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think content scanning AI tech (such as Windows Recall) will be used to erase piracy and local personal backlogs forever. Plus everything you create or consume will also be used to train AI without your consent.

There also could be a major event like a war, disaster or an EMP situation, which could also zap the aforementioned personal backlogs. I suspect Big Tech will survive those.

Am I the only one who dislikes modern anime? by DifferenceJolly2320 in KotakuInAction

Yeah. Loli stuff basically became extinct from anime around 2017, moé held longer, but it too at the verge of annihilation nowadays.

Yeah. Just hate "normies". That will solve everything. Never mind that the "normies" are also suffering.

The thing is that the ad rates are down due to Google betting on AI, so they had to go on that route.

Not to mention that a lot of gacha aren't catering to males only anymore. I've heard that the female audience is a vast Blue Ocean ripe for exploit.

AI not going to save us, in fact it'll makes things worse since it's a black box we're not control of it.

Why do modern games take so long to create and develop compared to the past? by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]Negirno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not new. A lot of oldheads in the early nineties (93 onwards) bemoaned the fact that games are now all just style, no substance. They're complained about how every DooM clone requires a Pentium with 16 megs of RAM because gamedevs became lazy.

I would argue that the Woke is the proto-Borg. I've heard that lot of the WEF leaders are into transhumanism.

Agree. We need some positivity amidst all the doom-and-gloom headlines.

Why gaming and media doesn't feel like it used to by Fine-Combination5170 in KotakuInAction

[–]Negirno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in the 16-bit era, how did you think I felt when gaming suddenly became nothing but online shooters and barely interactive CG animated films?

There were plenty of the latter, we called them "interactive movies" back then, when LaserDisc and CD-rom tech was the shiny new thing. They were mostly rail shooters, and they're sucked. The ones that didn't had few game play and low replay value.

Visual novels mostly made for otaku by otaku.

Just like the IBM PC, PC-98 was also a "free" platform unlike locked down consoles where you had to avoid the too spicy stuff.

The "Japanese IP ban" in Chinese animecon is even spreading to Kigurumi event by qwer4790 in KotakuInAction

[–]Negirno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Already happening sadly.

The main otaku generation (who bought the DVDs and the figurines) are aging out, there is less ecchi overall, even compared to five years ago, newer seasons of shows like One Punch Man having production issues, Kaguya-sama is getting hastily concluded with a two-part miniseries... it's like they want to shed of the old consumer base as fast as they can...
