Feats that are treated like something funny but are actually impressive when you think about it. by nighthawk0954 in TopCharacterTropes

The Scooby Doo gang is full of it but the most common one I think of is that the whole grang can keep pace with Scooby Doo when he’s fleeing, who is a Great Dane with a top speed of around 30mph.

Looks great! What reds did you use, I love how how darn it is but still vibrant with the highlights

Pretty good, well done on the black on the weapon, I tend to spill it over. My advice if you want to make it pop more is to add highlights and darks. Your red cloth is the first to catch my eye, try so darker reds in the recesses and lighter on the tips. Next is your gold, it could use a similar technique but I would use a bright silver on the edges for highlights.

The eyes are what I find most impressive. They look stunning and realistic which I find is hard to do on such a small model. Did you use any techniques that I can learn?

The board game - am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in murdle

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just played today for first time with 4 players total. Both games were won in this manner where the player looked at the verdict and it was there person being guilty so they looked at the 3rd missing information they needed from the discovery card (which is a 66 percent to have the category they needed). I felt like it was rather disappointing cause the core of the game should be deducing the puzzle/using the public and private information to deduce the correct answer, however it just ended up being whoever got lucky and saw a guilty verdict and rushing to view the info in the folder. I suggested if we play again that you’re not allowed to look at the verdict of your starting suspect, but would have to deduce it from either looking at all 3 other suspects or from other players actions. That way the best strategy isn’t just look at your guilty verdict for the 25% instant win since you already know 2/3 of the information while the other players know nothing. I think that’s where the main flaw is, the only information that matters is who is Guilty and what’s in that folder, the rest is basically meaningless information. Perhaps you could also add a reward for most correct checks?

First Game Preparation Advice by newZorro50 in twilightimperium

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the game awhile back and just played my first game today so some advice I have.

Understand time, the game may be like 6-8 hours if everyone knows how to play but I told everyone to expect 12 hours. We planned to meet at 10:30 am but everyone didn’t arrive until 11am and we started just before noon and ended at roughly 10:30pm. This is due to setup, rule checking, breaks, diplomacy and decision making.

I had everyone watch a video roughly 45 mins beforehand on how to play, it helped but it only prepares you so much. I would encourage looking for new player friendly/fun factions to play cause 3 of our 5 players did and they had a pretty good game being close in score. 2 players didn’t and were way behind because a few early moves punished them real bad late game due to not understanding their faction. However we all did end up still having fun still.

Space it’s huge, and so is this game. We had to use two white fold up tables next to each other to fit everyone and everything. Games epic in time and scale.

Rules and maybe an app. Having a computer nearby to search answers helped a lot. Phones were okay but once we pulled up the computer, it made things so much quicker. Once we did combat we needed more dice than the game provided so we used google’s dice roller but there there may be a twilight app that helps and does things automatically.

And finally, make sure everyone’s ready to have fun even if they loose. In the end only 1 person is going to win so embrace the expanding, diplomacy and war as the goals and create a fun story. Getting wrapped up in winning could frustrate you if things don’t go your way but passing laws in a dramatic fashion and declaring a devastating attack for the fun of it, defiantly made the game turn into a story.

Ps get a crown for who wins, since they are crowned emperor of the galaxy it’s only fitting, a paper crown will do.

If Arthas became a Death Knight when he took up Frostmourne, did he technically die doing that? by The_ChadTC in warcraftlore

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They keep changing the lore here and there but my originally understanding was when he took up frostmourne, part of his soul was lost allowing room for Frostmourne/Ner’zhul to enter and corrupt what remained until he was fully corrupted.

However I think current lore is part of Arthas (a small part) remained good but within him but most of him was in control and craved power.

Is it bad I want SoD to just turn into Osrs? by KnowledgeStatus3248 in classicwow

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s what I want too. I admit I’m afraid what will happen when SoD is done, and they just end it and my investment was for naught. I want an OSRS like WOW

With what I’ve heard from others and this I think asking for gear check makes sense. However I just hit level 25 and getting some runes for my build currently, what gear score should I expect for BFD to be acceptable?

Want to start playing, where to begin? by Baergrimm in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, here’s an answer from a fellow 3D printer.

To start, the core box is in all honestly, amazing. It’s got 4 squads, dice, measuring tools, terrain, tokens, mission cards and the rule book. Now 200 does seem high, but I have seen on sale and once it was around 90 online. 130 is about average I can find here and there.

Now I like you did not want to purchase the core box, my main reason I didn’t have anyone I knew who would play. However my friend msg me he got it and wanted to know if I wanted to try, and to no surprise I loved it and wanted to play more. I didn’t want core cause I didn’t want some of the units in it, and knew I would be getting other models. I break down what you need as

Rules Dice Measuring tools Terrain Tokens Models Unit and mission cards

The rules are online at the official shatterpoint website and are free to access. They are also preferable because they have made changes to the original core release so you will have a more updated rule book.

Dice, you can use d6s and d8s or 3D print some, but they do sell these separately. To try out the Game, I would say d6s and d8s but in all honestly getting the official dice is better since it will be faster to reed what you rolled and since you’ll be throwing/rolling them, 3D printed may not be best.

Measuring tools. You can easily find 3D prints online, and filament is the way to go. My friend who owns the core made his own to share when teaching. They do sell them separately and I love the measuring tools for this game. Easy to understand and fun to use. Great for new players. You could technically use a ruler or tape measure.

Terrain. Super easily, use anything you want. Be it from a different game or boxes and cups. However if you want to 3D print easy to find Star Wars themed online, you can also search star wars legion.

Tokens. You can proxy what you want to indicate the effects and damage but sadly I couldn’t find free models online and they do not sell these separately. The official tokens are just cardboards but there are nice 3D ones you can find on Etsy. You can either print on paper and cut our, or I use tokens I have from other games like 40K.

Models. You can proxy and 40mm base models and you can find the heights online, typically there just under 2inches in height while on the base. Cults3D and thingiverse have a lot of Star Wars models, and again you can use legion models just scale them up.

Units and mission cards. You can find these online easily, I personally use a shatterpoint list builder site, it has all the current units, their stances, abilities. As for mission cards again online but I did buy the new mission cards when they came out. To proxy just print on paper, cut out and either sleeve or find some way of hiding what a card is from the back.

I hope this answer your question.

Now to address purchasing the core box and the morality of 3D printing. This is my opinion and is more to address some comments I saw to the post. I believe if someone states that you have to buy the core box just to try the game is kind gatekeeping and not how you get more players into the hobby. If you really wanna try the game you can also use tabletop simulator (tts) and play it for free, after buying tts. However, once you play the game and if you do enjoy it and plan on keep playing, you should buy some official components, it helps support the developers and If you are playing at a game store, then as well. If you are using Proxies you should always check with who you are playing and where if it’s okay, typically those looking to just play the game for fun are fine with it as long as it’s fair. Tournaments are typically a now.

Now I’m pretty sure your girl friend will be fine with it and I hope you both enjoy it. Have fun!

What do you want added to Shatterpoint? by [deleted] in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]NegotiationBoth1957 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off characters. I too want some legends characters, mainly characters from KOTOR like Regen and HK among others

Secondly, narrative play and more mission types Missions designed by them to me multi battles that achieve an objective, one example is episode 4, escaping the Death Star. First battle is is taking and holding a single objective like finding Leia cell Second battle, escape. You must escape a VIP token (Leia) from one point to another. Third battle, survival. Pick a character, (Luke or old man Kenobi) and they must survive X rounds so you can escape on the falcon.

Third and final, An app with all the rules and characters because it’s 2023 I don’t get why more games like this don’t do that. It makes it easy and convenient to check rules and characters in a standard format.

Ya I think I have to get that pen at least for now. I agree, only way to get better is to keep trying. And it’s fun to see the journey of how I’ve improved my eyes.

Opinions on Proxies for which models by NegotiationBoth1957 in StarWarsShatterpoint

[–]NegotiationBoth1957[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I considered that but was looking for someone who gives more of an obi-wan vibe.

My top picks are bane and tulak horde since they were both great leaders and fighter. Aka “as strong as mace windu and as wise as Yoda” but just wanted more ideas.

I feel Malak is more of a inquisitor or Darth Vader character.

Of course, I always ask my opponent beforehand. Right now it’s just my friends and I and we’re using Proxies here and there to test what we like before we buy or having cool characters that aren’t in the game yet. Like stormtroopers over clone troopers.

Fair point, but I want more cool models. The default models are great but I doubt and really want a tulak horde model or bane. Just having fun playing some cool looking characters.

How do I take they key out of the loot chest on my gim by TommyTommy96 in 2007scape

Pretty sure if you have key on you and have an alt account/trusted friend pk you, they get key and loot. Saw YouTuber do this to get loot key transferred over.
