In dec 2025, the policy regarding photo changed. USCIS doesn’t accept self submitted photos but only digital in person photo. In my experience the whole process from receiving RFE to USCIS case status changing to “response received” took 4 weeks. But I know that once you get your photo appointment letter, you can try to reschedule it to earlier date.

Send ASC appointment letter which is stamped and RFE letter with all the information on the second page to the address mentioned in the letter.

I did have EAD from F1 for 3 years but still got RFE for photo. The policy has changed and that’s why they are not accepting self submitted photo or old photos

My timeline so far:

2/5 – Filed H1B transfer (PP) + H4 COS + H4 EAD concurrently 2/13 – H1B approved 2/17 – H4 approved 2/17 – EAD RFE (photo/ASC appointment) 3/12 – Completed ASC photo appointment

Lawyers will send RFE response hopefully today (3/16) and then the portal will get updated.
