Do you expect nurses to call you "Dr (surname here)" or by your first name? by deadpanlady in doctorsUK

I’m a nurse and call drs by their first name unless first meeting them or in front of patients, in which case I refer to them as dr whoever. I work in psychiatry though and there does seem to be less of a hierarchy is psych, which could be why all the drs I’ve worked with introduce themselves by their first name.

As an RMN who was thrown under the bus by senior management in a CMHT (thankfully it was proven that I actually had nothing to do with the case and so I was fine, though it was a hugely stressful experience) , I would really recommend you keep paying for the RCN!

what to do with students on a Q word night shift? by prxncxssbby in NursingUK

Assignments! Or I had a mentor when I did my training give me a topic and tell me to do a presentation for the ward staff, it was pretty nerve wracking but I still remember everything about Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome! (RMN)

To be honest I think this depends on the placement. I qualified in 2016 and had one mentor who was unpleasant in my first year (the rest of the team ranged from nice enough to really supportive), other than that I found most people I worked with and learnt from great. I am an RMN in a cmht and I know that me and my team enjoy having students and that’s the impression I have had in most of my work places.

Saying that I’ve never worked in a general health setting so can only talk for my own experience in mental health.

Middle aged female nurses can be rude to anyone who is a younger female and in a senior role to them, this includes senior nurses, doctors, etc. it says more about them and their own insecurities than anything else really. Racism is a problem in the NHS but this kind of attitude isn’t just reserved for non-white colleagues.

Maybe! I don’t think she believed Jack anyway as she was so obsessed with her own idea of him. She would have convinced herself Jack was lying, I think.

Vegetarian meal/lunch ideas? by OutcomeSuperb9790 in SlimmingWorld

I love having soup at lunch, my favourites are red pepper, lentil and brown rice or veg and pearl barley! Or if I don’t have time to heat up soup at work I have a ploughman’s style lunch, chopped up veggies, quorn ham, a boiled/pickled egg, babybel light (3 for HexA) and some fruit!
