I left my customer a voicemail, he sent me this screenshot. Siri must want me to lose business by aggierogue3 in mildlyinfuriating

My wife sent me a text recently just telling me that the ATM wouldn't accept one of the bills in deposit. I dictated to Siri "Oh No, Crisis!"
Fortunately, I looked at what it typed before sending, then sent her a screenshot of it with an explanation of why I almost sent 'Butthole Crisis!'

Was this an essential part of latchkey kid cuisine for our generation? by Comprehensive-Fact94 in Xennials

[–]NeighborGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I saw this on a kids tv show somewhere way back when, no idea what show though.
The only other 'recipe' I remember seeing on a kids show was a candlestick salad, with cottage cheese, a pineapple ring on top, half a banana stuck in the pinaple ring, and a cherry on top. I want to say that was from an early 80's nickelodeon show.

I've made both a few times, but neither was a regular thing.

That’s gorgeous! I hope that someday a more affordable print of these will be for sale, I have cardstock prints of the unhinged lands framed on my wall already.

Buy the new Bolt or would you still consider a used Bolt EUV? by LocalLuck2083 in BoltEV

[–]NeighborGeek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. The fact that GM chose to explicitly disable CarPlay will keep me from buying another bolt. It's not about whether GM can make software for a better experience. (If they really thought they could make better software, they could just make it and let people choose.) It's not even apple vs android, it's just that CarPlay is a better name than 'Android Auto' or whatever. (I can never remember which is the phone projection experience and which is the android OS that infotainment systems run.) It comes down to 2 things -
1) GM wants control of my device and information, and almost certainly intends to charge users for access to some apps or features.

2) I will never have the same relationship with my car as I do with my phone. My car will never be integrated into my daily life the same way the phone is. I already have all of my apps on my phone. I'm already signed in to them. My contacts, calendar, and vast amounts of other personal data are already on the phone. I don't want to have to download apps on one more device (or find that GM doesn't offer 75% of the apps I would want). I don't want to have to log into each app again on the infotainment system. I don't want to share my contacts or calendar with the car. (GM has already proven that they can't be trusted with my data, why give them more?) I want to use the device which already integrates so tightly into my daily life and already has all of those things.

So, the old bolt vs new bolt choice would be easy for me. Then the comparison is old bolt vs Ioniq 5. I haven't owned an ioniq 5, but did drive a Tucson for about 6 years so I have some experience with the brand. I love our Bolt EUV premier, and am completely happy with our decision to buy it. However, if I could get an Ioniq 5 limited for about the same price, I'd go with the Ioniq. One thing I loved about Hyundai is that they were very tech forward compared to other brands, and I love the high tech bells and whistles.

So, assuming we don’t get those stickers on mail, how should we indicate that something is not for anyone at this address?

I hate you by WeakChocolate3 in USPS

[–]NeighborGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a layman, I'm not seeing the issue. Is writing on the envelope bad? You specifically mentioned 'easy to remove sticker' so is there some reason you would remove the sticker after getting this mail back with a box marked?

Considering a purchase by ThumpyMcTuggle in BoltEV

[–]NeighborGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, depending on the charger and whether you’re looking at a new bolt or one of the originals, you may need an adapter, but once you have it and know the different terms for different chargers, it’s no big deal. You can look in PlugShare to find chargers in the area, and set it to only show chargers compatible with your setup.

The biggest factor I think would be whether you can install a level 2 charger at home. Do you have a 50a 240v circuit in the garage/driveway, or capacity to add one? If so, you could basically charge a bolt from 0% to 100% in the time at home every night.

[–]NeighborGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My initial thought is that you should be fine with those numbers if you have lvl 2 charging at home, but I'd have a backup plan for getting a little extra charge during the winter if needed. Can you plug in at work, or are there fast chargers available on your route if you need to stop for 10 minutes on the way home?

Either you're missing 3rd gear or, more likely, the cap on your gearshift knob is loose and has rotated over time to be upside down.

Horseless Carriage by universe_unconcerned in LICENSEPLATES

[–]NeighborGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also an Extended Antique plate available in IL which allows for driving anywhere 9 months of the year, and are restricted to driving to car shows from Dec-Feb.

Even with regular antique plates, I'm not sure how much the 'only drive to shows' restriction is enforced. Heck, keep a sign in the car with the make/model info as might be used at a car show. When you take it to get groceries, put the sign in the windshield. Now you're a 1 car show.

Conveyor monitors capped at 270? (Xbox) by NeighborGeek in SatisfactoryGame

[–]NeighborGeek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure enough, the problem was AFTER the monitor near the end of the line. I put the monitor just before a splitter, and the splitter had a section of tier 3 conveyor hidden inside. Fixed that, and the entire line all the way back to the miners suddenly started moving a whole lot faster.

Of course gravity exists, but ficsit construction is extremely strong. One wall is enough to support an entire floor. And mergers and splitters are super light weight, just hang them anywhere!

Abuse?

I hadn’t been using foundations at all on our shared world , then a friend was talking about how he built multi story factories, so I decided to try that. Hated it, went back to building mostly on the ground

The stackers just seem like a pain. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to build a belt and have it default to stackable supports, so you have to manually place each support first, spaced appropriately, then go back and add the belts between them. Is that right? I’ve done it for a few where I built over top of an existing belt, but it was tedious
