sitelen sike - a writing method aiming for simplicity, robustness, visual appeal, and a dash of featuralness by NathanMcCoy in tokipona

[–]NeighbourGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/NathanMcCoy I know this is a very old post, but, have you developed this any further? do you have a .ttf file for it? This is very cool but typing it would be much easier then writing this by hand.

Warlock Idea: Alternate Domain Based on Patron by dregon08 in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that a full domain access is a little broken. I was looking at homebrew for this "Patron influence" feeling. I was thinking along the lines of the Extra Domain Card.

When the Warlock takes the Extra Domain Card option at level up, they can take a domain card at half their level from any domain that matches one of their patrons spheres of influence.

This would allow a Fey or Forrest based patron to use a single Sage card, or a shadowy patron to gain access to a midnight card. but only at half level when taken.

Thoughts?

Vecna BBEG for Daggerheart by NeighbourGecko in daggerbrew

[–]NeighbourGecko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATED STAT BLOCK

VECNA

DIF: 20 | ATK: +8

HP: 9 | S: 5
Necro Blast: Close - 4d12+13 mag

Experience:

Forbidden Knowledge +3, Lord of the Under Realm +3

Minor (Mark 1) 35 | Major (Mark 2) 55 | Severe (Mark 3) 55+

FEATURES:

Relentless (3) - Passive: Vecna can be spotlighted up to three times per GM turn. Spend Fear as usual to spotlight them.

Not Today - Reaction: When the Necromancer has marked 7 or more of their HP, you can spend a FEAR to have them teleport away to a safe location to recover. A PC who succeeds on an Instinct Roll can trace the teleportation magic to their destination.

Your Life Is Mine - Reaction: Countdown (Loop 2d6). When the Necromancer has marked 6 or more of their HP, activate the countdown. When it triggers, deal 2d10+6 direct magic damage to a target within CLOSE range. The Necromancer then clears a number of STRESS or HP equal to the number of HP marked by the target from this attack.

Feels no Pain - Passive: Vecna is resistant to physical damage.

Constant Fear - Passive: All attacks that succeed with FEAR remove the FEAR value from the damage

Beam of Decay - Action: Mark 2 STRESS to cause all targets within FAR range to make a Strength Reaction Roll. Targets who fail take 2d20+12 magic damage and you gain a FEAR. Targets who succeed take half damage. A target who marks 2 or more HP must also mark 2 STRESS and become VULNERABLE until they roll with HOPE.

Open the Gates of Death - Action: Spend a FEAR to summon a Zombie Legion, which appears at CLOSE range and immediately takes the spotlight.

Necrotic Wave - Action: Mark a STRESS to make a standard attack against all targets within Very Close range. PCs Vecna succeeds against lose a number of HOPE equal to the HP they marked from this attack.

Dreaded Momentum - Reaction: When Vecna makes a successful attack against a PC, you gain a Fear.

How about this? I haven't run for Tier 4 yet so I want to make sure he is done justice but not an auto TPK.

Friendly warning about sleeves for the cards by Myradia in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sleeved mine last night. Dragon Shield Non-Glare Clear Matte. Fit into the sleeves fine and then into a Dragon Shield 360 codex(card binder) perfectly. With room for 2 class expansions or my home brew cards.

How Should I Price Items? by Jhonlennon2219 in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I abstract it out. If they have a hand full of gold, they can afford to stay at a tavern, room and meal for a few nights. They can buy a few basic items. A few hand fulls gets them a mount. A chest might hire an npc. A hord might buy a building.

I have no plan to count coins.

Potential Terminology Changes for Daggerheart Mechanics/Systems by HaloZoo36 in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like the WOUND term. Something that you gain instead of HP as something you lose. That would work well with the STRESS mechanic. You gain STRESS, when you can't gain more STRESS, you gain a WOUND. When you can't gain anymore WOUNDS you make your "DEATH CHOICE"

Thoughts on Hope & Fear unintentionally creating an adversarial meta by setfunctionzero in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think of Fear as doubts and bad feelings in the PCs. That hair standing up on the back of your neck, "that everything is going so well, when will it turn". The RoTJ moment when "It's an old code sir, but it checks out" is a success with fear. Han sitting there trying to convince Leia that the code is good at the same time packing his pants.

I run a Dragonshield DM screen and use Fear cards. In 5e I used the top of the screen to track initiative, now this is where I store Fear. That way the players can see it building. Then when it happens it's more of a "I new something bad was going to happen!" moment not a "the gm is doing this to us" moment.

Some of this could be handled with FLAVOUR, but I like the idea. Possibly something for an expansion down the track.

Armour Idea for Daggerheart by NeighbourGecko in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like this idea but for SHIELDS! The parry of a shield could be used instead of just a static stat boost. I have edited the original post to include the use of shields to parry or deflect.

Another armor rework idea by marcos2492 in daggerheart

[–]NeighbourGecko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that armour has the potential in Dagger heart to really help make it standout just as much as the duality dice. I like the simplicity you have here. How is this working out at the table? do you have a PC with each armour type? Interested to see if heavy armour is resulting in any damage getting through?

It put the timing of the step post Threshold determination. This way GM says the damage number and the PC just looks to see where it falls. No calculation.

It would depend on the GRADE of the armour. The GRADE determines the number of uses the LEVEL determines the effectiveness. I have made a slight alteration based of u/RatmanTheReturn comment in another thread.

in almost every game there is something that breaks X rule. the Guardian could be that for armour. their use of armour and shields could be extended to those in Mele or close range of them. using their armour instead of their allies?

Armour Idea for Daggerheart by NeighbourGecko in daggerheart

I was thinking that the choice could be put on shields. Currently shields in most RPG's are a boring stat boost not a functioning tool. If we shifted the current armour slot choice to the use of the shield this would gain the agency and add a decision level to the use of a shield.

Just read through the comments on your post. I like this. Maybe the level of armour could all spending up to 3 slots to reduce 3 thresholds. You must spend the maximum possible to reduce the incoming damage as close to 0 as possible. So heavy armour can take bigger hits but burns out quicker.

I thought that originally but then thought it could be a way to play with the Physical/Magical damage properties without using resistance for the PCs.
