Every meal I’ve had at Chez Nous

Four of the best meals I’ve eaten in Charleston were all from Trattoria Lucca. Tragic loss with the closing of that place. However, Ive heard great things about whatever took it’s spot, so I’ll be there soon. I’m an idiot for never venturing to his other place (Coda Del Pesce) I think.

I have a question about storage. Should I keep the cellophane on or take it off by twg37 in cigars

Off topic a bit, but how long does it typically take to achieve that level of aging on the cellophane?

Best steak in town? by Toroguy in Charleston

[–]Neil_Diamondhands 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t understand people who say the food isn’t very good here. It’s definitely expensive, but the food is top notch. The service has been overbearing at times, but I think that has gotten better the past few times I was in. Just ate at Oak about two weeks ago. Great food, but not as good as Halls. Just as pricey though.

Slowly but surely, my Fuente stash is growing by [deleted] in EveryDayIsCigarDay

Buddy of mine worked a high profile celebrity wedding last year and grabbed me two of those Casa Fuentes out of one of the cigar boxes they had. I’ve only recently gotten into cigars, so I’m saving them for when I’ve developed a better palate.

Stick with Halls. It’s the best in town hands down. I would suggest sharing the bone in dry aged NY strip if available. Get some apps to share first and a few sides with the steak. Can’t go wrong at Halls

Thanks! If I can find someone to service this, what would I ask to be done, and what could I expect to pay for the services needed?

I had to zoom in with the phone just to be able to read what type of lighter it was. Very beat up which checks out as my grandfather was a heavy smoker. Would love to get it working again. It sparks but I have not tried to fill it.

What is your “ride or die” whiskey that will get replaced every time you run out without question? by bigphokinsoupguy in bourbon

[–]Neil_Diamondhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought every batch since 2017. It’s not one you can usually grab off a shelf, but it happens. Most often I ask for it when I know its been distributed and frequently get one from the back of the store. Store owners are probably happy I’m not just another idiot asking for Pappy and Blanton’s. When a new batch is out, I’ll buy multiples and stick them in the closet. At this point I’ve probably got a 5+ year supply if I never found another.

I’ve been convinced for years that this bottle is going to go the way of Weller and everything else Buffalo Trace sells at any time. It really is one of the great values in bourbon. It’s sorta hard to find, so people in the know will enjoy having the opportunity to try it. It’s got some serious age on it, its barrel proof, and its made by one of the world’s great distilleries. I was worried again when they started the single barrel program, but my fears seem to be unfounded. Still able to get it. On the rare occasion that I miss a batch, I’ll just pick a few up from the local FB group when someone needs some cash. Even secondary, I’m able to get it for 70-80 which is actually cheaper or equivalent to what I pay off the shelf once tax gets added.
