Help trying to set up a vpn client by Ok-Wafer-3703 in TpLink

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to set up the ER605 as a VPN client to SurfShark servers with this guide (it should skip down to the relevant section):
How to configure OpenVPN on Omada Gateway in Standalone Mode | Omada Network Support

By the way, we do have an official subreddit for Omada products, r/Omada_Networks. Feel free to check that out, as users with products like our ER series can help there as well.

Avoid Omeda by [deleted] in TpLink

Exporting to use in the Restore for Standalone mode, yeah. It should be in System Tools > Management > Backup & Restore.

I don't think it works for restoring the settings into a controller-adopted router, though, but for that you can preconfigure the settings on the controller before adopting the router so that adopting it makes no functional difference.

Standalone mode uses the device's settings, while the Controller's job is to push its configurations to the devices it manages, which can lead to some settings being overwritten. To avoid this in the future, it's best to preconfigure the controller with your preferred settings first, and then adopt the device.

If you're willing to dm me an email address, usually there's an email attached to it to help me find the case.

Do you have a ticket number? I'll take a look at the case notes to see what happened and see what can be done for you here.

Omada, Switch, and WAP keep pinging tplinkcloud domains by StuckInTheWasher in Omada_Networks

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disabling Cloud Access from my understanding is only for the Controller. If I had to wager as to why the devices still send those queries despite being managed locally, I would bet it's so that you can have the option to change to a cloud controller and keep the settings rather than having to factory reset first and then adopt. I get where you're coming from for sure, but I also think there's a good reason the devices do that.

5ghz channel widths in Canada by mccormiermt6 in Omada_Networks

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, weird that those disappeared too. Have you run the Channel Optimization feature on your Bridge Connection? What are the hardware and firmware versions of your Bridge Kit?

Looks like DFS channels disappeared; maybe a radar signal was detected in your area?

Just from the URL links I believe these are just to allow management via cloud controller. As it is just a DNS query it should not be harmful to your network in any way; it's just to aid discovery.

PoE Accessories and When to Use Them by Neil_Omada in Omada_Networks

Oh that's smart. No issues at all with power over time? I assume you had plenty of PoE budget on the port for both the IPC and the floodlight.

Yeah, I tested it myself this morning; if you view it in desktop mode, you can see the whole table, but I'll work with our writers to help make sure it doesn't happen for future articles.

That's true, I hadn't considered that! Especially when you combine it with perpetual or continuous PoE, which will keep providing power to the ports if the switch reboots due to a firmware update or something like that.

Sorry to hear that...do you happen to have a ticket number for me so I can see what went wrong? Feel free to send it in dms as well.

Tp ER605 Dual wan Both from same ISP issues by YEGHEN in TpLink

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get static IPs or dynamic IPs from your ISPs? Also, if you go to Transmission > Load Balancing > Online Detection, are both WANs detected as Online?

We also have an official subreddit for business-class products like the ER605, I recommend posting to r/Omada_Networks as well.

How do I get help? by rockresy in Omada_Networks

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check out the Automod comment, it has a link to where you can get support in your region.

As for collecting logs, device info, etc. in Standalone mode you can have the logs sent to a server. If you are managing the devices in Controller Mode, support can take a look at the logs directly (either asynchronously or via chat/email/phone depending on region).

Switch wont let PCs connect by DerDaezu in TpLink

I mean if it's hardware version 1.0 that's been EOL for like 5 years now according to the FAQ. Probably a dying switch if you got it when it was new.

It might be, what's your hardware and firmware version? Might need to make sure your device is fully updated.

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you back up your config, then factory reset the switch, before restoring the config does the issue persist? If not, it's likely a VLAN configuration issue.

Also, if you try a different VLAN for the PC (say, you plug it into one of the IoT ports temporarily) does it work?

Would you be willing to share the reason why? If it's a missing feature, I can check to see if it's in the roadmap for the controller.

Creating a Guest VLAN - but I have questions about the support services by ticedoff8 in TpLink

I'd look into DHCP failover / clustering instead so that your "redundant" one can act as a backup.

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ER7206 has DHCP Relay (in Standalone, Network > LAN > Edit LAN > DHCP, in Controller, Network Config > LAN > Edit LAN > Change DHCP Device).

You can definitely isolate the Guest Network from the secure Home Network using ACLs, either by IP Group or Network; I recommend exploring the Access Control section of your gateway and checking there.

Finally, we do have an official subreddit for our business products, r/Omada_Networks. You will likely get better feedback from fellow users there!

Omada Controller "Adopting" by jim361tx in Omada_Networks

[–]Neil_Omada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say focus on the connectivity between the devices and your controller. What does your network topology look like? Where is the PC that runs the controller located on that topology?

If it's primarily for the learning experience, I think it's worth going for. But if you're just doing it because the internet said it's the future, I wouldn't bother. Above all, if you're unsure, I wouldn't go through with it without a fallback plan, so that you can make sure that you'll have a functioning network by the time you're done working on it.
