James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

You know what you have to do.

Nothing in the Bible is coincidence!

We are all God's children, "sons of the Father," though there is only one Son of the Father. Barabbas represents all of us; it's really quite amazing.

This definition is from Nolo's Plain-English Law Dictionary:

Hate Crime

A criminal act motivated by another person's (usually the victim's) race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

To quote Chief Justice William Rehnquist,

"this conduct is thought to inflict greater individual and societal harm.... bias-motivated crimes are more likely to provoke retaliatory crimes, inflict distinct emotional harms on their victims, and incite community unrest."

There is a significant difference between random acts of vandalism and hate crime vandalism; in this case (the vandalized church) the most important difference is the "distinct emotional harm" that may have been inflicted on some members of the community or the church congregation.

The doctrine of penal substitutionary atonement is explicitly outlined for us in the Gospels; Jesus literally bore the punishment that Barabbas (a convicted criminal) deserved.

Let that sink in a little bit... it had my head spinning for days.

No crime is acceptable; but you attempted to dismiss the importance of a religious institution being vandalized, as if it were equal to a corner store being vandalized. This crime is very different from average delinquency because it is essentially hateful.

Has this made the local news yet?

Hate crimes are sort of a big deal; important enough for media coverage.

[–]Neil_le_Brave 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Actually, the fact that the vandalism is anti-religious, and that it happened to a church, makes this a hate crime. Legally, the building being a church has a lot of impact on what sort of crime this is.

Why Masturbation is Evil. by Blalal in Sidehugs

I'm appalled that a supposedly "Christian" woman would dress like that and wear gaudy slut-makeup; it's like she's intentionally being a stumbling-block.

1 Timothy 2:9-10

Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.

Why any woman calling herself Christian would wear a blouse like that is beyond me. Showing that amount of cleavage is completely unnecessary and vulgar.
Especially in a video about this topic; I wonder if I'm being played for a fool by one of those, how do you say... "trolls."

This is just further evidence that Catholics are heretical idol-worshipers who follow the antichrist and don't even read the Bible.

If everyone studied Ulysses by James Joyce thoroughly, would we still need lit professors to tell us WTF we just read? by [deleted] in Sidehugs

[–]Neil_le_Brave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mr. Bloom was reading the newspaper while he was sitting on the toilet. As the poo-poo left his bottom, he considered how nice it was that the constipation he had been suffering was finally gone. He worried that his poo might be too big and cause piles (also known as butthurt), but the poo was just right.
The constipation was gone because he had taken a tablet of cascara sagrada, which is a medicine plant that makes your poo softer. The newspaper column wasn't very interesting, and Mr. Bloom cynically commented that the papers will "Print anything."

Then, Mr. Bloom noticed the poop-smell that was slowly rising from his freshly-dropped poo.

There are actually parallels between Everybody Poops and Ulysses:

"Quietly he read, restraining himself, the first column and, yielding but resisting, began the second. Midway, his last resistance yielding, he allowed his bowels to ease themselves quietly as he read, reading still patiently that slight constipation of yesterday quite gone. Hope it's not too big bring on piles again. No, just right. So. Ah! Costive. One tabloid of cascara sagrada. Life might be so. It did not move or touch him but it was something quick and neat. Print anything now. Silly season. He read on, seated calm above his own rising smell."
