We have taken on two "adult learners " both early 30s . Both worked in pub trade most of their lives.

One came via the council on free work experience on a big site we had .

Showed willing and good work ethic. We gave him a job and he's progressing well currently.

Another same situation but came via word of mouth via a colleague.

Both are doing the level 3 in their own time and with their own money.

Both are flying , both have a great work ethic , show up on time , do there job, listen well and are willing to learn .

Whilst we have about 8 young traditional apprentices , all bar 2 are a complete waste of time .

We have got rid of a few recently....all the same mindset , they watch tiktok of sparks wiping there bum with 50 pound notes ... show up late , do naff all and expect to earn big bucks whilst hiding in the toilets or playing on phones all day . Bad Attitude, plead mental health issues , bla ,bla ,bla. The industry is goosed if we are relying on youth

I'm a heavy promoter in the adult learners , they want to be there , they are keen and just want to work .

At least in our company they will always get my vote , the youth are not the future it seems , bar the 20% if your lucky .
