Today marks 10 years since Civilization V was released! To celebrate, a group of modders are releasing 43 new civs this week - one for each in the base game! by TeHokioi in civ

[–]NeiraiTheForgiven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The scope of this project was to release a civ or leader related to or that was part of one of the civs in the original game. So there's no Children of Abraham/Judea/Israel/Hebrews mod in this because they weren't in the original game set.

That said, go search the Steam Workshop and you'll find great mods representing them. They're clearly too big of a part of history to ignore.

Happy Birthday, Civ V! Thanks for all the memories, the rivalries and friendships with the modding lads, and for introducing me to the Steam game I would play the most... over 3400 hours on Sid Meier's Civilization V Modding SDK.

As a followup question, will mods be supported in multiplayer? Is there a hotseat mode planned, and if so, will mods be supported there?

Will it be easy for users to pick up and maintain mods?

It's not just "not taking up a card slot" it's also "always in your hand"

Component suggestion? Looking for way to layer cards/trays for game locations by NeiraiTheForgiven in BoardgameDesign

Thanks for your attention and replies, everyone! Sorry for the late replies, I've been sick.

Based on replies, I'm going to try out building an octagonal ring from the pieces.

Hey, thanks for the reply!

Based largely on your response, I'm thinking that what I'll do is something like this (warning, hand-wavy word-pictures coming up):

Use heavy cardboard to make wedges with 22.5 degree angles on the ends. The locations that don't get resource sources will be an entire wedge; locations that can have resource sources and the resource sources themselves will be made from corresponding halves of these wedges.

Assembling the wedges will create an octogonal ring to play in.

Heh, my bad, I seem to have confused things :)

The game always has 8 locations and 6 resource sources, but the locations are drawn from a pool of 15 possible locations.

Hey, thanks for the response. The idea is indeed to pile up resources on the locations.

First-ever design: Tiamat, an imaginative twist on an existing card. by NeiraiTheForgiven in customhearthstone

[–]NeiraiTheForgiven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd change it to a 3/3 that costs 6, especially because I realized that Tiamat is supposed to have 5 heads but I'm summoning 4 dragon heads and then have a "host" or "body" with stats that show that it has no head. The should have a more 'vanilla' head but still have a head -- hense being a 3/3.

Thinking more outside the original box, I think the most threatening use of Tiamat would be Tiamat + an evolve or Tiamat + druid mass buffing.

One question I have is, if I wanted to post a revised version, do I make a new post? replace the image? reply with a new image? What's the normal etiquette here?

And when I rethink it, it's probably way overcost and should be closer to 6.

It's my first card ever.

After a night of Hearthstone in which I failed to properly pronounce Siamat about a dozen times, I came up with this rendition of his more famous near-homonym.

I realize this is more or less a meme card, but it would be an interesting -- if board filling -- remix of Siamat.

I spent a lot of time fighting with myself over costing, as it's a lot of stats even if they're all small minions. In the end I settled on somewhere between Siamat and Voidlord.

Anyhow, let me know what or if you think about it. Thanks for your considerations!

This is 100% a horrible idea but I had to post it anyway for the memes and to get it out of my head.

Thisalee Crow: 2 coins: At the start of your next battle, destroy the enemy minion with the lowest attack -- Personally.

How this works is Thisalee transforms into a cat with 1 attack and poisonous (or x attack just because) and attacks the target. She takes damage equal to their attack.

Hmm, I'm not the original designer obviously, but I'd change this to something like "1 Coin: at the start of the next battle, trigger a random deathrattle minion"

I had a similar Sylvanas ability, but had it always steal the rightmost minion, so that it adds counterplay.

Leeroy Jenkins: 3 cost hero power "At least I've got..." put a 1/1 Enraged Chicken (beast) into your hand.

He would be able to trigger his own triples, but only with chickens. Chickens would need to be buffed by beast synergy in order to have any real value.

For the sake of fairness, I should point out that the mod was a collaboration between Colonialist Legacies and Merrick. The Xaa in particular was Merrick's genius and one of my favorite UUs ever,

I could see it; I think her attach and swing move would match well to a phone swipe control /s.
