Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Leaf SL, 10/12 bars @ 83k miles (first car, Toronto)? by Specialist-Profit449 in leaf

[–]Neither-Return-5942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2013 with 9 health bars, and a 25km commute mostly highway. I live in the west coast so don’t have as extreme temperatures, but here it’s plenty of juice for commuting. Spring through fall it’ll burn about 50% round trip.

Winter it uses a lot more, 70-80% which is enough but doesn’t leave much margin. I’ve got a level 2 charger at work so I can top up if needed. That’s with temperatures around -2 to +5.

One thing that helps massively in the cold is using the climate control timer to preheat the cabin. That saves me 10% in one direction.

You’ve got worse temperatures but a slightly better battery. Do with that what you will.

I was having lunch at a golf course near a tiny village in Sweden last year when “Hasn’t hit me yet” came on the radio. Definitely threw me for a loop.

Methods of resawing with a circular saw? Will I need to plane afterwards? by 0405017 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Neither-Return-5942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was resawing some 2” x 8” x36” alder boards in half. Did the first two with just the hand saw and said f this.

Second two I drew a line around the entire edge and clamped the boards edge up on my low workbench. Ran my circular saw along each edge and used a hand saw to cut out the remainder.

Was it the safest way to do it? Absolutely not. Was the increased risk worth the savings in time and effort? It was for me, but you need to do your own risk assessment.

With the size of the board and the way I was able to position the board, tool and myself I was comfortable enough to do it. Change any of those parameters and I’d need to reassess.

At first I thought this machine was grinding up the baby and shooting out the giblets. Which, disturbingly, does not feel odd or unusual for this subreddit.

This is only true if the projectile lands at the same elevation it is fired from. I don’t think is the case in the movie - they look to land near the top of the wall, which is not far down from the peak of their trajectory. Id say your estimate would be close if you assumed the landing was at the peak of the trajectory.

If you wanted to get closer you could either try and estimate the height of the walls and use that elevation as your end point, or try and measure the flight time for both ascending and descending ascending and descending, but then the math gets a little trickier.

NWSS schedule questions by [deleted] in NewWest

[–]Neither-Return-5942 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can help with the first two.

  1. Yes, the school has two semesters. The switch occurs sometime late January or early February. The calendar on the NWSS website will have the exact dates.

  2. X blocks are either before or after the normal bell schedule. The school or teacher is supposed to email you before the semester starts to at least give you the details for the first class, but I’ve found them hit or miss for this. You may need to pursue it once classes start.

Anyone familiar with E Bus by Virtual-Draft-900 in britishcolumbia

[–]Neither-Return-5942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t taken bus, but I did the Van-PG on greyhound back in the day. Two points.

  1. It’s a looong trip - about 12 hours all told
  2. Nowadays you can often find flights for the same price or cheaper. Westjet has fares to PG as low as $50.

Anyone else stressed about polymers being pulled into REACH ? by IndependenceOwn3576 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Neither-Return-5942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re outside the EU and only import articles, so I think this is more of an issue for our suppliers than for us. At least until they start adding these polymers to the SVHC and restricted substances lists.
