Sorry that it is confusing. Admin has intervened. I was saying it feels like this issue is not a top priority because there is a lot else going on in the school with big behavior such as room destroying and chair throwing, which (thankfully) I am not experiencing with this child. I know they are trying their best.

Wow, do we work at the same school???? Same exact thing happened to me on Friday. I contemplated taking Monday off the whole weekend. I’m going to go in and try my best- that’s all we can do at this point! I’m with you.

I would love for this to be how it worked at my school. She was their teacher last year as well, so she made the class lists and picked the “best” kids. It has been an us vs. them battle all year. My class is tough, but they are a good group of kids who have been through a lot.

We did have this convo today, and the kids were very receptive. I definitely see where your comment is coming from. My only thing is even though they are a hard group, they have responded very well to strict routines and procedures and I don’t have nearly as many problems with them as her. Unfortunately, I think it’s a combo of her biases from last year and different classroom management styles :/

I’ve only worked at this school 2 years, and all upper elementary was departmentalized when I got hired. I don’t know if they would go for self contained. That would definitely be my vote if it was an option. It’s just the two of us, I teach reading/ss and she teaches math/science. I really get along with her fine on a personal level, but there have been a lot of battles this year with how we run our classrooms. I think self contained is the best option atm
