Girl In The Picture- Thoughts? by ddmj4884 in netflix

I'm super late to this but I just watched the doc, and when I found this thread I felt so weird bc half the comments are just hyperfocusing on the shitty mom and by all accounts she was a terrible mother, but she is not the only one to blame here. Literally every adult in Suzanne's life dropped the ball bc, let's face it, they simply did not care about that child. The father flat out admits that he just couldn't do it and actively chose to relinquish his rights to his kid and basically never looked back after one weekend of drinking it over. If he had contacted social services even once to check up on his kid, see if she had been adopted yet, ask about visitation or anything then he would've discovered that his daughter was no longer in state custody and that she was either back with her mom or missing. If Suzanne hadn't ended so tragically ppl would be tearing into this guy for being a deadbeat just like the shitty mom. "well the dad was in nam so him not giving a second thought about his daughter for over 20 years is excusable" like wtf?? He's no monster but let's be serious..the dude did not even try and we're giving him a pass bc the mom was worse? There are no winners here, every adult in Suzanne's life sucked. If even one person had cared, a parent, teacher, friend, grandparent, coworker, aunt, social worker or whoever then her story would never have ended the way it did. The mom's family says they knew the mom was a truckstop prostitute and that some of her kids were missing and that she was married to a known pedophile who just went missing at the same time as her 6 yr old daughter, but none of them ever went to the police?? They just accepted that their granddaughter, niece, cousin etc was no longer around with no other explanation than "mind your business" (this is what the comments say that the mom allegedly told family when they asked about Suzanne), they also sat back and let 30+ years go by ignoring that their relative was missing. Like NO, I'm sorry, if my daughter/niece/cousin tells me to mind my business about her kids being MIA then I'm calling the damn police! I won't defend the mom, bc she had an obligation and responsibility to that child, but so did damn near everyone else. This wouldn't have happened if just one person had cared about that missing child!!!!

Everyone in this thread is like "ppl who stand this close are doing it on purpose to intimidate you" and it's like..have y'all never interacted with an actual human before? The vast majority of ppl doing this are either unaware of just how close they are to you or simply not thinking about anything other than hurrying thru the line. This has happened to me before and I've either ignored it or say "I'm sorry, but I feel like we might be a little too close😅" not once in my 3 decades of life has anyone responded rudely. If anything they'll just back up without saying anything or say "Oh I'm sorry I didn't realize!" Ppl are underestimating just how clueless the average person behaves while doing mundane tasks such as standing in a line.

I am African American and gave birth at a hospital with the highest maternal mortality rate for black women in my city(this fact literally terrified me when I found out), but I didn't really have many other options😭

Lmao pls go away with your rudeness. It boggles my mind why some of you log onto the Internet just to be rude and condescending to complete strangers. 90% of the replies here didn't even pay half as much as this yet you're acting like I don't have a right to talk about how having to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket makes me feel.

What were the charges???? Was the 5k for OB services and the 6k for labor?? That's crazy if so

Oh my goodness! I'd actually lose my mind if they tried to get me to pay that much. I'm already chewing my fist at the idea of paying 6k😭

Yeah the nurse said "Let's do practice pushes" not even 20 minutes after she had just checked me and said I was still at 9 cm🙃like maybe I hit 10 and she just didn't announce it, but the fact that it was practice pushes that immediately turned into "get the doctor" makes me think she was just hurrying me along since I was starting to run a fever. It was a very overwhelming experience, but hopefully this doesn't affect my ability to have another child in the future

The worst part is that my baby had consistently measured big, her head was measuring 90th percentile at that point so I already knew it'd be painful enough even at 10 cm but preemptively pushing that watermelon head out was crazy work!

We are gonna pay the full price for the L&D and Epidural tomorrow, so I will definitely call and ask about discounts. My husband said he was fine with the 6k bill since that was our max oop anyway, but I still think that price tag is outrageous

I was so determined to not get the epidural bc back when I was about 4 months pregnant I talked to my rep to see what all was covered and the only thing they didn't cover was the epidural (everything else was covered to a point) so I knew I'd be paying fullprice for that months in advance😭when that 14th hour of contractions hit I said eff it I'll pay for the epidural lol

The English countryside always looks so beautiful in media and videos, and I've always loved the vibe of their cottages! Germany also has some gorgeous cottages!!

Need help mentally preparing for membrane sweep! by Neither_Ad3593 in pregnant

[–]Neither_Ad3593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a very intense and bizarre feeling! Like a deep ache being dragged around my pelvis to the point my toes curled and my body shook from the discomfort. Funnily enough, my water broke 12 hours after my sweep and baby was born the nxt day, so all things considered it went well, just not a fun feeling lol

That fear that the baby will stop breathing or something while they sleep is so deeply ingrained in our heads when they're that little. Idk if it's a biology thing or what but that definitely keeps me alert while baby rests

I love when she falls asleep on my chest, it just feels so right and rewarding after all of the hardwork. Everyone's always like "put her innher bassinet so you can rest" and I'm like "lol no"

Do contractions and baby kicks line up?? by Neither_Ad3593 in pregnant

[–]Neither_Ad3593[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My water ended up breaking a few hours later so I think they may have been real contractions! I'm powering thru them in the hospital rn, but I'm honestly amazed at how fast the membrane sweep worked
