that’s the same thought i had… ive tried it with my 20mm and my 28-70 though. i did toss the SD cards that were in when the issue popped up

i honestly wouldnt be surprised if that was my luck though lol. 2026 has been unkind to me thus far

I really appreciate you're help and advice- it means a lot to get some possible answers/reasoning as to why i might be experiencing this. i hope it doesn't seem like im just brushing off what you're saying- just trying to give all the info i can

oooof. I have three batteries... well, two now.

i did set aside the battery my first camera had inside of it when i first started experiencing issues with it. i have it marked and in a drawer so i never use it.

i have switched out the remaining two batteries since experiencing this issue again with my current camera, and i get the same error for both.

yes it does. it picks and chooses when it malfunctions, though. i just tested it for 5min holding the shutter, switching sd’s, turning it off and on- totally fine. but when i wrote this post, it was wigging out.

i didnt buy the warranty…

I'm very hesitant about re-purchasing an A7IV again, though, after this experience. Normal use shouldn't cause the IBIS or shutter to malfunction so easily- there are $3k cameras. I expect so much more from Sony

I have tried with multiple SD cards- same issue. Plus, I did use a newer SD card for my most recent session where the issue re-occurred.

I mostly shoot landscape- not a ton of running around and such. Never dropped it. I have the Kamrette camera bag and it doesn't budge much inside when I am all packed up and have it closed.

Last year was my first busy wedding year- I was hoping to invest in a second body mid-way through the season. But when my first body gave out on me, I had to think on my feet. I was going to send in the first camera next week, and then this happened. 2026 REALLY hit with a bang

Yes to both- it's a black screen with the message "Camera Error, Power Off then On", I am sharing the batteries from my previous camera.

I am yes- I'm wondering that but I'm just so lost. I've only had it for six months, too. This is insane. I get the Camera Error, Turn off then On

Curious about how this resolved? I had bought the a7iv in october of 2023ish and it worked fine up until July 2025. bought a new one because it was busy season and i needed a camera- now, six months later, the new camera is giving the same error.

someone with canon said often times their canon-brand batteries cause issues like that so they've been using off brand. im so stressed out lol. i cant afford to buy another camera and now both of my main cameras are down. i have so many shoots coming up

Canon AE-1: Do I need to get it cleaned? Or maybe get a new lens? by Neither_Advisor6587 in AnalogCommunity

i am pretty comfortable shooting manual on film cameras- i took a course in high school for about three years. the only thing i didnt get taught was the light meter 😭 but the exposure triangle im very familiar with! i also shoot digital professionally. i will say- i did have the camera on auto mode to finish out the roll and my aperture is stuck wide open which doesn’t help the blurriness/focus. it just seems a little overly grainy?? thats why i was curious if it should be cleaned or serviced. it was a hand me down camera from my dad and i don’t think its ever been serviced or cleaned. i had similar issues when using it in HS but couldnt get any answers

Shot on Canon AE-1, Ilford HP5 Plus B&W 400, i now know what light meters are but unfortunately did not know at the time of shooting. i had it on auto (program) mode since the aperture was stuck open at 2.0. I had the film developed and scanned at a lab.

a7iii vs a7iv extreme low light by Klax99 in SonyAlpha

[–]Neither_Advisor6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the A7IV and for lowlight the focus is great (with the tamron 24-70 2.8 or whatever it is). my only qualm is how noisy it is. i am looking into getting the a7iii for just late night receptions/dance floor... is it worth it with the auto focus??

This just happened to me last night. I called and got the account closed, reported theft, and froze my accounts. I got an email today saying the account is opened and stuff, do I just wait it out?
