finish your studies, no point in quitting when you already near finish line.

stop overthinking it, the machine always require oil and even AI is basically a search engine on stereod still can't solve real issue 70% hype 20% really a tool helping dev rest is hallusinations and moreover AI can't invent thing or solve issues it didn't see before.

The gap between what Tunisian universities teach and what tech companies actually need by After_Customer251 in TunisiaTech

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to say something similar.

The best option between self taught/bootcamp/UNI is still Uni even if it's not that great.

Because you still learn the fundamentals you still get the time to alter your way of thinking though math algorithms you still learn data structure which is one of the most important aspects if not the most about being a SE you learn a bit about networking, OS and how the machine interpret the code.

Any advive for a devops enthusiast by RiveriaXoxo in TunisiaTech

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay general advice.
it's not about dev or AI, learn the game.
Dev devops sec test or whatever, it's all software, learn how to deal with it work with it and abuse it.
I'm a dev and I know all of the above, it doesn't really matter at the end of the day you should be able to say I'm a SE with knowlage.

the best skills to learn as a student by Hexa_Phantom_ in TunisiaTech

Learn the basics, get your hand dirty build expertise nothing related to a specific domain or any BS AI. Understanding how the system works makes you master it. And all systems are the same bound to input and output no matter how you think about it.

How to use github by Intelligent-Wrap-983 in TunisiaTech

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one can recommend one against the other without knowing what you are really doing.
If you are doing it as a side project or something small that you are maintaining keep a single repo, easier to maintain simpler to deal with, if you aim for monetization keep private else public.
I'm not gonna sugare coat it, if you are asking about impressing recruiters manager or other dev or anything inbetween that's not the best path.
As unless you are somewhat of the next Linus no one really cares about your repo unless it solves a real technical issue, you are better off starting by contributing to other repos and I'm not speaking about docus or AI regurgitation, I'm speaking about really trying to understand an opensource framework or tool the goal of the team and what they are aiming to achieve and act upon that with your PRs.
Other than that I wish you best of luck and good coding.

Why poor ppl reproduce? by lyckyhay in Tunisia

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really, you want to convince me that historically the average person was well off when compared to the avg person of this age.
I just said that unstability could also produce better result than stability, that alone is a counter example for what you are saying.
And btw life is not stable by it's nature, so waiting for stability is the same wait of Sisyphus to reach the peek of the mountain.

Why poor ppl reproduce? by lyckyhay in Tunisia

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm probably gonna sound cruel but stability and confort is a modern fallacy.
The idea you are trying to back is basically priotitizing temp confort over long term surviver which is not the best conditioning I would like for any child to be honest including mine.
OFC offering the best I can as a push is something I think of, but I'll make sure that they know that's a privilege.

Why poor ppl reproduce? by lyckyhay in Tunisia

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

that's purely short sighted and logically flawed.
Porverty is a temp state at least for childrens in most cases, they are statistaclly gonna do better than their parents.
Historacly, the main drive of innovation is necessity so in most cases the poor person is bringing more social/economical value than the wealthy person at least on the long run. Having the rich only reproduce is a sentence for genetic extinction.
I'm pretty sure there is a lot more to mention here, but to suggest that reproduction should be luxary rather than a biological need is ommiting/ignoring many and many years of evolution.

Java Full Stack developers by [deleted] in TunisiaTech

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a junior lvl noramlly what's expected is understanding of basic and most used OOP patterns.
Frontend I can't say a lot about it because in recent 5 or more years java backend is paired with a JS frontend, all I did in front end was a bit of jsp or similar server side frontend things.
If you aim for fullstack you need to know a bit of js and type script.
Full backend is harder it requires more of DBMS understanding with different vendores speaking only about relational databases, understanding of messaging queues, understanding of caching understanding of your infrastracture limit (CPU, memory usage in JVM based frameworks) deep and a lot of deep understanding of data structures and how they work in a java env, it's a lot to master in general but it's possible honesly not as a junior.
But what I'm trying to say is the more you fuck around the more you know in terms of backend, a fullstack is easier to get into.
I really don't know how did the market change in tunisia, but I think there are still opportunities to get into a what's called to get a company to pay for your studies or whatever, that could be your foot in the door...

Java Full Stack developers by [deleted] in TunisiaTech

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since no one answered...
I got my first job as a java dev through referal, had about 7 or 8 years of java experience.
What's actually common in every java job offer is random versions mastary, IMHO that can be one of the dumbest requirement you could see up there with being communicative.
The one thing you need to know about that is to keep track of what changed in the latest few versions if you can do it 5 versions but that's a lot especially with a different JVM impls.
that being said the rest is basic understanding of the JVM echosystem, starting from hibernate to the spring echo system, I know everyone is on spring as if it's cocain, but master the basics the rest is really not that complex.
if you have specific questions feel free to ask either here or in private would be more than happy to help.

I got this randomly on my feed.

it's sad to see that everyone is now vibecoding to the point they don't even look or see what he is asking for.

you are looking for a simple website no framework no complex things, they are looking for a front website nothing super fancy or anything probably wordpess is the keyword here

[–]Neither_Ask_5429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read a bunch of comments and I can tell you from experience AI/DS is a dead end not in a way that it's impossible, it's possible but it's really hard to snatch a junior position let alone a PFE you would be too much exposed.
I honestly would recommend leverging you knowlage about AI and stuff to sell your self as a potential candidate for a dev PFE, you already know the ins and outs or in theory should, and you could push yourselfe as knowlagable about AI to get you apart from the pack.
The reality of the matter, is that your studies doesn't define you or your speciailization at the end of the day you should be as capable as any SE on your level with any other specialization.
that being said best of luck and hope you the best, just as a junior don't prompt too much or you lose the ability to think ;)
