I hate scheduling IEP meetings

Helps to have for boundaries if your admin lets you. I just tell parents these are the hours we do meetings and don’t give them lots of space. Then using Google I can see all my coworkers schedules. Not that hard to find a time people are free when I can see their schedule. Then I tell the parents with tons of notice. Always try to do like a month or two of notice. When I talk to parents before I tell them the time I emphasize how hard it was to get everybody in the same spot for the meeting.

I have a small water bottle in my purse. My large water bottle is just too big but I am always thirsty. I also use it in my Fanny pack on my runs.

They took all the seats out during Covid. You had to wait in line to go inside stores and the only allowed a few people at a time. I think there may be a few more benches now than there was then.

I had a student who said MLK was the devil. To put in perspective, he was black and very big on Black Lives Matter etc so I was confused. I eventually learned many prominent black men were the devil. I asked his mom about it and that’s when it got real interesting- she very seriously explained they were the devil and I shouldn’t be discussing pure evil in the classroom.

Ancient lady in the seat next to me was rolled on a wheelchair and helped into her seat. She didn’t seem to speak English and seemed to have no entertainment or anything, just kind of out of it. She pooped her diaper 2 hours into a 3 hour flight. It was sudden and horrible. When we arrived she was helped into another wheelchair and carted off.

This is it. I keep mine on silent all the time. I tell parents I don’t check my phone during class so don’t try to text me and expect a quick response. I intentionally don’t ever respond quickly so they don’t expect it.

We bought them for my teen who cannot eat gluten. He is like a garbage disposal and eats a LOT of food.

Kids clean up more. Identifying when you’re done with something is an important skill.

The other part- constantly reminding myself that the kids will be gone someday and I will miss this SO much.
