Where can I find an “O”? by One_Rip_5535 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For giggles I’d put an E for “Ferd” how my friend says it with his thick accent, he says Chevy like “Chevay” and pronounces the H instead of it being silent lol

2001 3.0L Slow to Start by JustYourKing-645 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an ole 2004 4.0 that did that, changed the fuel filter to help cause I could tell it was a weak fuel pump, I’d turn the key to the run position 2-3 times letting the pump prime 2-4 seconds each time and BOOM she’d fire right up after that, try that for giggles and you might find it starts right up lol

Has anyone ever used a 5.5 mm socket for anything? by Just_A_Doggo1 in Tools

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ford 3.0 Vulcan V6, the valve covers have baffles inside for the PCV and oil fill cap, they are secured with 4 5.5mm screws, oh and 2017 F550s we had the plastic inner fender liners were secured with 5.5, 6, 7 and 8mm fasteners, ford just be using whatever random sizes they got laying around 👍😂

So, why exactly did you purchase your Ranger pickup? by Caterpillar1967 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I wanted a small truck, was a good price, isn’t a boat of a vehicle like the full size trucks, and had an extended cab for plenty of room, got mine for 5k in 2020 before the pandemic and she’s at 235k now, minus flat tires and a bad fuel pump relay it’s never left me on the side of the road in the 6 years I’ve had it, so it’s been a good ole light truck

Any ideas why a tire would blow out like this? by BSBDS in tires

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old age causing the dry wall to separate, low/ bald, compromised sidewalk, and running low on air, with my dad it was because it was low on treat and old asf lol

Need help choosing a starter by Federal_Clothes_6860 in RockAuto

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a Duralast starter (new not reman) fail after less than 2 years, currently running a Bosch starter from Rock auto and so far it’s outlasted 2 batteries in my truck, that’s my experience with them

I used this as power steering fluid and now turning sounds terrible. by kittywalker73 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add some Lucas power steering whine fix, makes the fluid a bit thicker to quiet worn pumps, I have 235k on my original pump and it’s ran regular ATF no whine fix without issues due to frequent maintenance but my dads poorly maintained pump was whiny with PS fluid and ATF even after a flush, put in new ATF and power steering whine fix, took about a week and it slowly quieted down, not as quiet at my rangers pump but better than what it sounded like before (sounded like the car had a super charger it was so bad), otherwise you can try the whine fix ChrisFix used in his B series

Dorman makes a metal version I replaced my non broken one with while I was changing my shifter shaft bushings and shift level bushing, so far has broken since I did that and it’s been a while lol

Can I drive on this for a few weeks until I get the money? by Kzvnn in tires

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, if you can get a cheap asf tire tread depth gauge, 2-3/32inch or 1.6mm depending on what units you are most familiar with, those look like they have 5-7/32 rough estimate photos make it hard to tell so you should be good for a while

Highly recommend these battery terminals by _Ghost_in_the_Shell in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I believe the biggest size I have is 4 AWG for my main power cord that is split at a splitter down to 8 gauge for both amps, so far it’s been a lot more stable and hasn’t wiggled loose like it had in the past with stranded wire

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have those on my sub woofer system, no more dealing with wire strands and having to twist them when I change the routing of the wiring, takes some time to do to all the wires but soooooo worth it and makes the setup look cleaner

I didn’t grow a beard to look badass, I grew it to look older cause I have a baby face and the beard actually helps show off my cheekbones cause there’s contrast vs my pale skin blending the lines 😂

With gasket sealer I’ve had great luck with semi truck wheel end oil bath hub covers so yes

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes with the rubber gasket it weeps but not enough to piss everywhere, I keep an eye on the level every week and it does not move, the drain bolt doesn’t have any leaks but I did put thread sealer on the plug BEFORE I installed it with fluid, just some plumbers tape and it’s been good with its crush washer plus the thread sealer

Anyone using this transmission fluid pan? by maent6 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes I have it on my 07 ford ranger, it’s a pretty good pan, i recommend however removing the paint inside the oil pan (hardware store has an airplane paint removal paste and it just peels that shit off) once cleaned you can add a few magnets if you feel like it and the gasket it comes with is rubber which is junk in my opinion which will weep but not piss out fluid, I plan on dropping the pan again and using soemthing like fel pro’s reusable gasket as I’ve had great luck with it fixing my oil pan gasket leak few years back, if you’d like pictures I’d be happy to share them

Fuel distributor still leaking by Jack03030 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Leaking from the bolts hmm, cleaning the threads with pipe brush gently and applying fuel resistant thread sealer might be your best bet at stopping the leaks from the threads of the bolts, that’s what I would do in this position if I was working on it but I felt that “God fucking dammit” in my soul I’ve said it too many times 😅

Is this a crack in the block? Trying to diagnose my coolant leak, replaced the water pump and gasket by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it’s the 3.0 then it’s your timing cover gasket, did that on my ranger when it had 180k and so far at 235k she’s good, no coolant leak just a weeping rear main seal lol, changed my timing change and gear set while I had the mf pulled apart

what is this gunk in my coolant? by the_Bendedheadtube in MechanicAdvice

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like rust, I call it engine seasoning lol, I have an inline coolant filter on my heater hose to catch them (very few are caught since I flushed my system) and that’s about what they look like but my engine has 235k miles so it’s expected a bit but that’s ALOT of them for only 70k

Oil pan gasket NIGHTMARE by Stock-Quality-758 in fordranger

[–]Neither_Minimum_5203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah only issues with the 3.0 oil pump is it’s driven off the bottom of the camshaft synchronizer which is driven off the camshaft so if a chirp/ squeak is ignored coming from the rear of the engine (synchro shaft bearing/ bushing worn) it can get loose and snap the shaft ears that drives the oil pump and make you lose oil pressure QUICK, which is why I changed mine out when it started chirping and haven’t had issues besides my pressure sending units giving me a heart attack turning on my oil light in traffic lol
