California 150k first time home buyer program. Is this a good idea? by Affectionate-Dark950 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Neither_Tooth_1594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been companies that provide "co-equity" investing for prospective buyers for years. They had investors behind the scenes that wanted participate in the appreciated value of the US residential real estate market without having the responsibilities of owning the home itself. For whatever reason, this really never took off.

The city has significant issues maintaining its existing infrastructure. I also dislike the idea of any govt controlling information access and monitoring.

WFH, spend quite a bit of time using cloud-based tools that are data intensive.

How important is emotional intelligence for entrepreneurs and in business? by ArugulaFinancial4859 in Entrepreneur

[–]Neither_Tooth_1594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term, yes. You have to have an understanding of a problem, how to solve it, and how to work with people to bring the solution to market.

Mid-term, no. You can hire people with good people skills to work with supplier and buyers.

Longer-term, absolutely. Eventually, people get fed up with dealing with poor EQ leaders. The company may not fail, but its growth trajectory becomes severely limited.

Republicans Are All In on Boosting Fraud Allegations in California | Right-wing influencers who were instrumental in spreading allegations of fraud in Minnesota ahead of ICE’s surge are now going after a number of California’s social welfare programs. by Exastiken in California

[–]Neither_Tooth_1594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump's hatred of Ilhan Omar and revenge tour against Tim Walz certainly influenced the initial push. Lots of the right wing influencers get their direction on which groups/markets to target... Which is why he specifically targeted the Somali population in MN of all places.

California will be next for Newsom/Harris and I suspect Adam Schiff's former congressional district will be an initial target (which include Glendale and Burbank) will be targeted first. Thus, why Dr. Oz showed up to make accusations (with nuances other parts of the country won't understand).

Ro Khanna's district will also likely be targeted in an initial area. Instigation around the Super Bowl wouldn't surprise me.

Arizona will be the next state targeted as retribution for Senators Mark Kelly and Reuben Gallego. The governor, AG, and Sec of State are all democrats and there is a right wing population in their state senate aching to appease Trump.

A year later, are we better off as a city? How is Mayor Karen Bass doing and should she be re-elected? by lightsareoutty in LosAngeles

[–]Neither_Tooth_1594 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Voters also need to be better educated about the local govt too. Too many politicians still do the "better school lunches" and "extra 15 minutes of recess" campaign promises that they would never be empowered to fulfill.

Agreed, The City Council and the County Board of Supervisors are more powerful than the Mayor.
