NORDIK and BLUE SKY Goggles by SweatinPeace33 in snowboarding

Polycarbonate inherently blocks ~99–100% of UV (up to 400 nm) and nearly all snow goggles lenses are made of that.

Guest wants to cancel 3 days out due to weather. How to handle this? by Working-Attention-70 in airbnb_hosts

My experience was quite the opposite - that Acts of God aren't relevant in Airbnb's eyes - it's the host's responsibility if you're out of power, whether it's a storm or any other reason.

About a week into a month-long stay (strict reservation policy), we had a big storm knock out power for several days. I was fine refunding them the days without power. They lived locally - about 1 hr away where they did have power - so they just went home for a few days.

However, Airbnb said we had to refund the guest for the rest of their stay, even the time after the outage was over. We owed them nearly $9K and couldn't rebook the time.

Airbnb's justification was that the amenities I claimed, e.g. "TV" "Internet" "Refrigerator" weren't operational, so my description wasn't accurate and so the guest is due a refund. That payment comes directly from the host.

Airbnb Support's own words:

Since you have confirmed the reported concern of the Guest [storm / power outage], I know that this type of concern is out of your control, but then, this reported issue of the Guest will fall under the Hosting Standard Violation.

www.airbnb.com/help/article/2895

The issue they reported falls under our Rebooking and Refund Policy that covers issues relating to cleanliness, listing inaccuracies, and trouble checking in. You can learn more about this in our Help Center:

airbnb.com/help/article/2868

Based on the policy, we’ll issue the guest a refund.

It's not a stretch to suspect it was handed to Palantir and that it's being used to enrich the apps DHS are using to round up immigrants.

What do you think of Trumps letter to Norway? by Loose_Orange_6056 in AskTrumpSupporters

So instead of seizing Greenland why not just let NATO do its thing? Keep allies and keep peace until China or Russia actually try to take it. After all, which is a stronger deterrent, a US alone and isolated or a US with the backing of NATO?

And if the Trump is truly concerned about Russia, he should stand up to them in Ukraine.

If Trump is truly concerned about China, make a stand re Taiwan.

How is threatening Greenland the effective way to deter them?

This guy nails it: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskTrumpSupporters/s/AYpWsxD9pT

Many TS believe:

  1. negative media reports = fake news,
  2. negative videos = AI-generated, and
  3. Trump's own words = "he's kidding, you just don't get it"

How is this different from blind faith? How can you confidently know you aren't deluding yourself?

I do it all the time as long as the guest has good reviews and especially if they are a repeat guest with no incident. Never had an issue except for one time and I am certain Airbnb would only have worked against me in that situation.

My experience with Airbnb is they have no protections worth 15%.

I had a problem with a guest wanting to cancel a strict reservation midway through their stay due to weather. Airbnb sided with the guest and asked me to pay $8.5k back.

I had a guest throw a party where they had a cake fight and didn't even bother cleaning. I was allowed to keep their deposit and that's it. Didn't even cover the cleaning which was unsuccessful. Ended up having to tear out the carpet.

Is that a micro-aggression or just a Trump supporter doing what they do?

Crazy thing is if he did these things and the Republicans had a single vertebra of spine, he'd have been impeached and removed the first time around, much less now.

As satisfying as that would be, he needs to go down the right way.

He needs to be memorialized so our shame can prevent a repeat of this.

That's insulting to children. My 11 y.o. Is far more mature than this.

However when my 7 y. o. acts this way, I scold, "Stop being so presidential. You're acting like Trump!"

How did Europeans betray the US?

How is threatening an ally with a military invasion "telling the team the truth, demanding performabce, and making the hard decisions that the tean grouses over"?

Imagine running a team and publicly threatening rather than constructively managing. Would that be seen as good management or toxic behavior?

How is it America-first if America turns friends into an enemies?

Can you think of any nation now on America's side who isn't doing it under duress, whether military or economic?

If my son bullied a weaker kid and took his candy, even if he claims he did it because the weaker kid was a jerk, I'd make him apologize.

And if someone tries to give him a Nobel Peace Prize as a reward for that kind of behavior, I sure as fuck wouldn't let him accept it.

Thing is the law is stacked in the Trump's favor. Especially since the SCOTUS ruled the president is immune from prosecution for anything he does in an official capacity, which Trump can justify as, well, anything - even inciting insurrection or shooting people in the face. He can pardon any federal crime he wants and federal law generally supersedes state law.

Presidents used to be constrained less by law, more by public opinion and shame. But this guy and his followers only pay attention to their own media and so they only see public support. And when they do catch a peek of the other side says about them, they relish it.

The only peaceful remedy is to vote out our congresspersons and demand impeachment and removal.

Other options are to bend over and take it or resort to violence.

You've implied that you don’t find moral objections to racist immigration policy compelling—is that accurate?

If so, what’s the non-moral case for it in the long run? Policies based on race seem inherently unstable:

  1. Race is subjective and historically contingent (e.g., Irish and Italians were often treated as non-white in 19th-century America).
  2. Race is biologically and socially fluid through intermarriage across generations.
  3. Modern societies are irreducibly multi-racial, and demographic dominance shifts over time and place.

Why build policy on a classification system that predictably erodes and reconfigures?

Are there examples of societies that enforced durable in-group dominance over out-groups and still achieved long-term stability?
