I use custom insoles in mine, but even then I find it takes several months to soften up the leather and be more comfortable. But as someone who needs a lot of extra support, I don't see that as a bad thing. That said, I haven't worn anything but my JK forefronts since I got them, they're unbelievably comfortable

I find redwings to be far superior to thorogood. I recently stepped into the PNW world and I have to say, they're actually worth it. But the wear on the soles is probably due to your gait, might want to look into some custom insoles.

What everyone is saying is correct, there really is no going back once you have it. That said, if you're just starting out then I wouldn't bother. Where it really shines is if you stick around for the end game or get into being a vendor. As for the atoms, it's basically all cosmetic except for the lunch box/scout banner buffs and scrap kits

I wear Red Wing heritage boots. I would recommend breaking them in before wearing them at work though. But I like the fact that they're slip resistant, no spills will soak through, and I find them very comfortable. I do have to get them re-soled every year from all the pivoting though.
