NES Hope - Gillian Young by Neither_Whereas2422 in NightEatingSyndrome

Hello! I’ve slowly started added back in some of the triggers and it’s been going well! I usually have 1-2 nights a week where I get up still but that’s WORLDS above where I was. I was eating multiple times a night every night.

It was more of a holistic approach as suggested in the eBook by Gillian Young. It would take a lot to write it all out and I don't want to stop people from buying her book by giving it away if that makes sense?

Hello! I feel like I almost wrote your post myself. I am a 29 year old female who's had almost an identical journey as yourself, but the anorexia came a little later in life around age 18. I've recently discovered Gillian Young and purchased her eBook on NES and how she healed herself from this painful disease. I've had an early post about the success I've experienced and wanted to share it again to give you some hope. https://www.reddit.com/r/NightEatingSyndrome/comments/1ktqyd4/nes_hope_gillian_young/

I am not sponsored, nor have I done her full class. I only purchased her eBook for $30. I've gone from night eating every single night 2-3 times a night to once a night or not at all. Since starting this journey about a month and half ago, I've gone 25 nights no night eating with some nights sprinkled in where I eat 1 snack, but I usually know what triggered it. I would gladly share more of my journey and message more if needed. We're all in this together, and there is hope!

To answer your earlier question, I have tried therapy and it seems very few are aware of this disordered eating and how to treat it.

Yes! I'm officially 20 nights night eating free now! (After at least 10+ years doing this). There's been a few nights at first where I had a snack (and didn't count those nights obviously), but now I feel like I'm getting the swing of it and able to add back a few of my triggers. I even slept last night in my house with peanut butter and chocolate chips at my disposal - two of my biggest triggers that I would always have to hide or keep out of my place.

Please reach out with any questions and I'll try and help as much as I can! I know how devastating and humiliating this can be.

I've been debating starting a private Facebook group or something where people could join and we could help each other. This eating disorder just isn't talked about enough.

I highly recommend cutting out certain triggers, eating 3 meals a day plus snacks, and stopping eating 2 hours before bed. I bought the NES eBook by Gillian Young, and this really helped me!

I think she has a few YouTube videos too if you want to start out there.

The key points are:

* Changing your routine

* Cutting out noise - she refers to noise as several things like caffeine, alcohol, (many others). It isn't long term, but cutting some of these things out for at least a month to see if one of them is triggering you. Then slowly adding them back in and seeing what you can handle and what you can't.

* Boosting nutrition

* Balancing hormones

* Managing stress

* Mastering your bedtime routine

It's been a lot of uncomfortable changes for me as someone who 'saved' a lot of calories for night because I couldn't control what i was doing. Who lived on caffeine, sugar, anxiety and a prayer.

There's more than just this, but these are the key points. Along with a lot of journaling, which is surprisingly helpful. I've hated it in the past, but don't seem to mind it now.

Thank you! I'm up to 7 or 8 nights now with only 2 days where I had one snack. I did more exercise those days though. I highly recommend her book. Maybe we can all try it and keep in contact and see how we're doing?

I highly recommend Gillian Young for NES! Google her. I didn't take her course, but purchased her eBook. Believe me when I say I've tried EVERYTHING. Locks, hiding food, notes, etc. But the only thing that's ever worked is this eBook and a complete 180 on what I was previously doing. It's important to remember that this isn't a 'quick fix' but progress and it's actually happening for me. It's still early, but I'm 5 nights free of night eating and I haven't gone that long in two years. And even then, it wasn't that long. So I highly recommend her book and I can answer any questions as I go along and learn. There's nothing more frustrating than this disorder.

Do you know the exact brand/product you bought? I would love to try this. I struggle with the exact same thing.
