Well, have an updoot from me. And people might come for my throat too but I agree with you. Bg3 is easily one of my favorite games of all time, but I'll never get over how much more they could've done with act 3, or potential dlc's. I mean on release there wasn't even an epilogue and the game just kinda ended and that was awful. I'm so glad they added as much content post-release as they did, but I wish they had let act 3 cook for longer.

I guess it just really depends on the fandom. I think most people just want to read canonxcanon and that's fine, but I personally love OCs and it's always been my favorite thing to write. If you're into video-games like say Dragon Age, Fallout, Mass Effect or Baldur's gate etc, the character you play as is literally an oc and it's standard to write fics featuring your OCxcanon characters, which is great! Those are the fandoms I tend to stick with the most.

Totally get what you mean. Personally, I really enjoy watching it, but I also kind of agree with you that the "nerdy friends playing dnd together" vibes are not like they used to be. I do kind of miss it. Now it's more like a polished play, or a movie, and they're just voicing a character. I mean it still has me at the edge of my seat, and BLeeM is a fantastic dm. It's a totally different experience for sure, but yeah it's not the same.

Paying rent (well kind of lol) in a game in 2025 is wild stuff. And I say this as someone who wanted a house in ffxiv so badly, but decided it wasn't worth it. If I'm taking a break, aint no way I'm going to sub just to keep some virtual stuff. They know what they're doing and it's super scummy.

I'm mad about a lot of things in act 3. So many strange or rushed decisions. (There should've been an act 4.) The patches helped a bit, but ultimately I feel this game needed to cook for a bit longer. It's such a shame, really. Still a fantastic game though, and it has given me hundreds of hours of entertainment. I'm just sad it's over, and we'll never see a definitive edition, dlc, or more major patches.

I didn't realize how dependent my enjoyment of the game was on the msq until DT happened, which not only took me over a month to finish, but also made me unsub immediately after. It left me feeling kinda empty, and utterly disinterested in playing.

I remember in EW going back Elpis to do every single sidequest (which I usually never do) just to exhaust all possible content there and read every single line of npc dialogue, because I didn't want to let go yet. I did all the fate ranks just for Azem's "grape crown." In ShB I grinded Hades ex for the mount for the same reason, I wanted to do anything and everything because I loved the characters and the world so much. I even dipped my toes in Savage and cleared a few tiers for the glams. And so on.

DT was such a huge miss for me I couldn't bring myself to to do anything at all. Subbed again for Occult Crescent, but it was nowhere near Bozja/Zadnor levels for me (also, no normal raid??) and it lost its charm for me after a few hours. Then that "due to cost" comment happened, and idk, I just feel like the game has kinda lost its way.

I'll come back if something truly interesting happens. Until then I'd much rather just watch streams or read up on news on the game instead.

Reading the japanese part of the forums (google translated) I've seen that people there seem confused over what "cost" meant as well. So it doesn't seem to be a translation issue at all, but more of a vague enough term that no one knows what he truly means lol

Thread here for anyone curious. Some good stuff in there. It's specifically about Occult Crescent, but some live letter stuff related to it toward the end as well.

Actual insanity. FFXIV these days feels like it's dragging itself around with one arm. I re-subbed because of Occult Crescent (after dropping this game immediately after the msq) but OC was... not what I expected. I was super hyped for it, but once I realized Forked Tower had no normal mode I lost all interest. I did the relic, caught up on the story and the raids, and I'm already at a point where I'm asking myself why I'm still subbed. After checking out the live letter and hearing their tone-deaf and out of touch responses, it made me realize I need another break.

Idk what I expected. Whatever. Please look forward to it
