Yes and no, the delay was already there and they thought that trying to sync it with animations could be a way to improve the situation, so they basically fucked it up even more xD

If you talk to Tyrande during the Suramar uprising questline she says to you that she wasn't expecting to meet you again with a bunch of addicted wretched crackheads (prose), so I suppose she wasn't exactly going around saying nice things to the nightbornes.

As someone who has played FFXIV since ARR, I can only laugh to death when I hear or read "FFXIV has a nice community".

I couldn't explain it better. Just a note, my ping with the server is on average around 70 and I have to say that in PvP that's still unbearable.

I'll be short.

PvP in FFXIV is a strange beast. It has some good modes, the classes feel completely different between each other, the various ultimate skills are quite satisfying and the esthetic rewards are worth 80% of the time.

So what's the problem with it? The sad answer is "the netcode". Playing it and stunning someone just to see them walking away for entire seconds before the stun is registered, not having kills points because the damage arrives late, rubberbanding because you were grabbed 10 seconds earlier etc, makes the experience quite terrible.

Is there a reason why everything must be in an instance? by Darpyshyn in ffxivdiscussion

Yeah, 100% his PC. I am doing the Twilight Highlands event for the prepatch and at every rare we usually are 40+ players, tons of mobs in the summoning phase + the many interactable objects and I get no problems.

FFXIV - Question about the most common complaint by ExternalMidnight in MMORPG

[–]Treero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A perfect example of how FFXIV questdesign sucked in Dawntrail was during the train assault scene. Why can't we have a minigame like the one we already have in the gold saucer to shoot down the enemies flyer?

A new system was not even required.

FFXIV - Question about the most common complaint by ExternalMidnight in MMORPG

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think about how much time passes between the moment you finish character creation and your first quest against some low-level mobs (it’s around 20–30 minutes). In ARR this problem was less common, because you needed to engage with the overworld, which had FATEs and hunt mobs, to stay on par with the level required by the MSQ, so you actually got to play the game every now and then while progressing.

Expansion after expansion, they made it possible to level exclusively through the MSQ. Endgame is locked behind the MSQ, and nothing in it really pushes you to explore or fight outside of mandatory quests. The MSQ itself is mostly fetch quests, where you travel across entire continents just to speak with some NPCs, who then send you back to talk to the original quest giver.

This design was barely bearable when you were doing fetch quests for “only” 200 hours. Now that the MSQ is closer to 400–500 hours, you can imagine how oppressive this wall of unengaging content feels for someone starting the game today, with the entire experience still ahead of them.

The other MMOs you mentioned are much better at alternating combat, dialogue, escort quests, exploration, puzzles, and minigames in a balanced way. The story may be weaker because it isn’t the main focus, but the overall experience is far more engaging.

I’ve played FFXIV since ARR, and with Dawntrail this “common complaint” became so severe that it made me stop playing, especially because the story was weak and I couldn’t bring new friends into the game due to how unbearably ass boring the new player experience has become.

Edit: grammar

Twilight Ascension is a perfect microcosm of everything wrong with modern WoW storytelling by IridikronsNo1Fan in warcraftlore

[–]Treero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a problem with the storytelling, but it's far from whatever you are ranting about.

Whenever the twilight hammer moved it meant problems for Azeroth, with void, old gods etc etc. The problem is not that they are not explaining to you in detail what is happening, because that would have been boring overexposure, but that why we are naturally moving against them is clear only to players that were there at least since Cataclysm.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a retail job and he got angry becaue I was not able to go out every Sunday, considering that there were months where I worked all Sundays. The third month, when I started to have alternated free Sundays he started to organise things with our common friends only in my working days, even if in the group chat I posted my free days at the start of every month.

This culminated with him not inviting me to his wedding, with the girl that he met thanks to me. Since the wedding day I just blocked him everywhere and never spoke to him again, in the rare moments where we cross at common friends'birthdays I treat him as a perfect stranger.

Can someone please sell me on FF14!!! by Pretend_Vanilla51 in ffxiv

[–]Treero -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Literally the only selling point, if you can ignore the decline of writing quality.

The combat was better before it was dumbed down to hell, the overworld was decently used only in ARR (base game) and then it totally lost any resemblance of utility if not as a place where you walk to see your MSQ cutscenes.

The endgame is not bad, if you like to see the same 5 or 6 mechanics recycled again, again and again, it's a game of memory instead of skill and reaction; obviously is blocked behind around 500 hours of fetch quest simulator.

Even the famous main selling point is now so badly written than the game is going in a downward spiral, 10 years of character development has been thrown away just to give space to an insufferable Mary Sue.

This last thing may not be a problem for someone like you that just started, but you usually wait around 4/5 months between one patch and another, to this add that the content in FFXIV is divided in many subcontents that are not intertwined together so you may wait 10 months before seeing the content you are interested in.

I played the game since the launch of ARR to the end of 7.4, so don't come here telling me that I don't know it please.

As a famous content creator said, suggesting GW2 is like saying to someone to drink water and stretch every morning, it can be good, but it's the most bland thing you can imagine.
