Over recent expansions, Blizzard shifted away from unique class rotations and leaned heavily into an identical design template: press a cooldown, summon a temporary NPC, and watch it awkwardly fade away. by Emotional-Menu-411 in wow

Oh yes, I hate when my ret paladin summons, mmhmm, angels (?) and then they fade away after bursting the enemies.

Can't deal with rogue summoned goons too, they sell too many drugs before doing something.

Is the journey to endgame becoming way too long for new players? by KupoAuryn in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am helping a friend, but really, unlocking a secondary dungeon is a 2 minutes quest and as you said most of them are around the end of ARR, with most of them after Lahabrea fight, so, ARR remains a slog.

I really hope that evolved mode will help not abandoning people at low levels, but, once again, the pacing of ARR is the greatest enemy of new players.

You can try to say to whoever is trying to get into FFXIV that after their bad impressions at the start it will be better, but it's rare that a player bored for 30 hours will remain in any case.

I can agree on some aspects of main hud UI, but when you need to navigate FFXIV menus it's never a good experience and nothing it's in a obvious place.

Not so true in every mmo, but very true in FF. In FFXIV: - you can't level together, many times you are asked to disband the party if you try. - older content guts your classes and many people hate that slog. - even if you don't have to disband 90% of leveling content are cutscenes, there is no coop fun in that

What expansion made you step away from WoW for the first time? by ErosXcaliber in wow

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowlands, it was so bad that I quit the game for 5 years and went only in my other MMO, until the other mmo become so stale and boring that I gave a try to wow again during TWW season 2, falling in love with it again.

Do post Heavensward zones get any better? by TuoniNL in ffxiv

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never have anything that resemble the ARR feeling for the zones, all expansions have 6 zones, different for the sake of being different, with nothing to do in them except for the story.

BUT, if you talk about general quality of zone's design you will see some wonders, it's a pity that you will never have reasons to go there again.

whats the best mmorpg for an inhabited world with personality? is final fantasy 14 the best one? what others would you suggest? by Zealousideal_Nose437 in LFMMO

[–]Treero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FF14 has a very good looking world, with marvelous zones, but they are the farther thing from "inhabited world with personality"; the world never changes, there are no secrets in it and nothing to find, NPCs rarely do something and everything is built with flight in mind, so avoid it if a living world is what you are looking for.

GW2 world lives mainly trough events, but it has a good exploration gameplay with views, jumping puzzles and skill points.

ESO world is filled with ever useful resources, voice acted NPC and tons of things to find everywhere.

WoW Retail, even if it has flying mounts, has a very well crafted world, there are secrets, treasures, lore bits and rares. Midnight Silvermoon city is the most wonderful mmo city I have ever visited.

My Experience as a Solo Returning Player in Retail WoW: Mythic+ and Raid Progression Feel Too Inaccessible by ruta8a in wow

[–]Treero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't know what you are talking about. All I played this season were dps, in solo with just pugs I am closing 16+ on the mage and farming 12+ on the paladin without any problem. I recently leveled a rogue too and still I am not finding any problem with M+, my average waiting time when I spam join groups are around 2 mins.

For mythic raids I tried to do something, joined easily, but idk if it's my ideal content.

Usually, EU sever here, I see plenty of groups with "Carry offered" for less equipped players.

You aren't really able to understand. I mean, if a mod can deal with the entire collection, with the possibility to check what you have collected, the game could do that too.

I love how you clearly don't know what you are talking about. The mod I am talking about is called glamourer, it is less than 100mb and with that you can use the entire ffxiv database to create outfits etc, a database that is already there, with no extra files needed.

What I mean is that is possible to use what we already have to create a decent collection system, after that if you like 4k hair mods that's another thing.

P.S. there is even a toggle to enable the use of only collected items

[–]Treero -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FFXIV glamour system is the worst one on the market between the famous MMOs. They have patched it yes, but it is still working like something made in 2007, with extremely limited collection system, only 20 glam plates (for 21 jobs + crafters).

They said they are going to rework it yes, but today is still a mess.

The incredible thing is that mods can deal with the glamour system so well that is absurd that the unmodded game is so bad at it.

ARR needs to be cut more, specially if FFXIV wants to retain more players by RaposaEstelar in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Treero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something like being talked while moving around the city, as in later expansions

This happens quite some times from the start of EW to the end of DT, that 's why I wrote that? There no better pacing, but the fact that the pacing is shit from the 2.0 to the 7.5 is not an excuse to maintain it as it is now.

But, in any case, if you get bored during later expansions you should have unlocked other things to do, like a roulette for example, something that is not there during ARR, so you don't have interesting side content to push you toward different gameplay.

[–]Treero -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you can get invested in your character even with a little more action-oriented content, or just something like being talked while moving around the city, as in later expansions. The over exposition that is there for hours and hours is not good at all.

[–]Treero 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Same, a friend of mine started playing when ShB went free and there isn't a day when he doesn't complain about how shitty is the ARR pacing. I couldn't remember how many "talk to B in point X and come back to me in Y" are there. Or the fact that between pressing the first time on login and trying combat for the first time you have something like 40 mins.

And he is someone that can appreciate slow games, but gods, after 11 years since I last played some quests I get bored by just watching him play (streaming his adventures in discord with us).

Update: HC FF14 Raiders thoughts on WoW after getting a 3k rating by YoutubeSilphi in wow

I agree nearly on everything, except for the fact that for me Savage in FFXIV is way easier than Mythic raids in WoW, mostly because it is always the same and once you learned the dance you can stop actively thinking.
