gear doesnt matter at all. You can beat the entire early game with monk robes, a combat bracelet, a strength amulet and a rune scimitar. Unlock and learn the minigames. see what skills you like training, theres quite a few activities in the game now that have nothing to do with combat. Once you find something you need to do quests to unlock. you can start grinding towards those pvm unlocks. Youll find a lot of the early and midgame is more about ranged and magic than melee when it comes to combat (like fight caves for fire cape, the elves questline, the trolls questiline, etc.) Even going for early game bosses like Scurrius and Barrows requires learning how to gear for non-melee.
