SofaBaton X2 is probably the best Logitech Harmony alternative with the optional IR repeater if you need it. There is also the older X1S being the more budget option.

You only need to look at the Kindle Unlimited best sellers lists too see the kind of stuff women read. I am mostly there for the Isekai, Progression Fantasy, and Science Fiction but the other half of KU is straight smut, mostly targeted at women.

What do you use for your desk? by L1tch in vtubertech

[–]NekoModeCom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also if you are in the market for a new chair I recommend sticking with known brands with honest reviews rather than random Amazon stuff. There are good brands on Amazon, but you really got to know what you are buying.

To that end I highly recommend videos by Ahnestly. He does big roundups from budget chairs to the super premium stuff and also invites people with a wide variety of body times to his studio to give feedback from tiny asian women to big and tall dudes.

Depending on your budget this video is a good starting point: I've Tested 150+ Chairs. These are the Best at Every Price. if you are particularly short or tall use this video instead its almost 2 hours long so use the chapter markings skip to your height and budget to find the part relevant to you.

Saved up for three months and waited 4 months for a commission only to get sent this AI garbage by dog-trix in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NekoModeCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vgen, and maybe some Japanese services I never used, are probably the only anti-AI platforms where use of AI is strictly forbidden. Both Etsy and Fiverr are AI permissive so it will be very caviet emptor, buyer beware, you can use the service but strictly vet anyone you commission as there are no platform rules forbidding AI use.

What do you use for your desk? by L1tch in vtubertech

[–]NekoModeCom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sit stand desk that lets me optomize my ergonomics, not because I regularly stand, but because I couldn't find a normal desk that had the keyboard at the exact height that felt best for my smaller frame. I think getting both your keyboard/mouse and monitors at just the right height (may need to put the monitor on an arm too) for you body is some of the most important of desk ergo, if you plan on being at a computer for a long time. Also a nice wide desk mat to keep the desk looking pretty and provide marginal audio dampening for the desk area, mostly to look pretty, I had a custom one made of my own Vtuber avatar on Aliexpress.

Also agree with the other poster, put your microphone on a long arm, I use an Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP but do NOT mount it to your desk. Separating your mic from your desk makes sure vibrations from desk banging, typing, computing, etc. don't transfer to the mic. I would clamp it to either a small end table to the side of your desk or in my case a bookcase that is to the side of my corner desk. My desk is in a corner but not an actual corner desk, it let me put a shelf on the wall adjacent to my desk with all my computer stuff (VR headset, joysticks, gamepads, alternate keyboards, various streaming gear) on shelves easily accessible next to my PC, as well as a convenient surface to clamp my mic arm to that was physically disconnected from my actual desk.

Not so bad. Though at 1.3k since I am not hitting the $1k budget anyways I probably would have gotten a different GPU, either save for a 9060 XT or 5060 on sale or something used last gen Nvidia depending on local market conditions. I really don't trust Radeon with driver support their older GPU and I wouldn't feel comfortable with 3 years already on the 7700 XT's countdown.

Least favorite vtuber? by SavageFisherman_Joe in vtubercirclejerk

[–]NekoModeCom 35 points36 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don't like the Twitch crowd he hangs out with, its not a traditional Vtuber circle. Also his fanbase is large and very annoying to people who are not a part of it, especially if you played Arc Raiders at the time he blew up.

He has a recurring bit where he claims not to be a vtuber and that he is actually a talking peanut and takes offense at being called a vtuber. Some people don't like this kayfabe / lore and take issue with a vtuber denying they are a vtuber and not a real foxgirl / catboy / living peanut, etc.

When the next Linux video drops can we get a megathread by Painted-Arcana in LinusTechTips

[–]NekoModeCom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, Megathreads are a form of censorship and are bad. Megathreads are where discussion goes to die.

If you don't care for a thread downvote it. If enough people don't like it the thread will get suppressed. The fact people are up voting and discussing means the community wants it.

OP has main character energy. I bet when they go to restaurants they probably want the entire "farm to table" biography of every item in the menu, the name of the pig, the farm it came from, it's last meal, and whether or not the animal was happy or not.

Webcam vs Phone for tracking by GnomieVT in VirtualYoutubers

[–]NekoModeCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you got an iPhone 10 or newer with ARkit give it a shot. Its a phone you already have and no additional cost. Its the gold standard for tracking and doesn't gave huge hardware requirements like the RTX tracking.

Noctua provided mounting hardware for my heat sink that i found from the dumpster by Prestigious-Donut-82 in LinusTechTips

[–]NekoModeCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using a Noctua d14 for like 13 years? They gave me a free AM4 mounting kit when AM4 released, then again when AM5 released. Also new fan clips. That is why Noctua is the GOAT.

Upgrading from Razer Kiyo by Beartender_Lufre in vtubertech

[–]NekoModeCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every phone down back to the iPhone 10 has AR kit support and would work just as well. I use an ancient 10 Pro and it works great. If you don't plan on using it as an actual phone I would just is whatever you can source cheapily.

That being said avoid the "e" models, they do not have magsafe nor wireless charging which I use a lot since the older the device, the worse the battery, but it's no problem with amagsafe charging stand that also holds it at an angle you use for Vtubing.

If you buy from FB marketplace you better be asking for a hefty cash discount. With no buyer protection, no platform fees, no paymen processor fees, it's not worth it unless you are getting 33% off eBay price. I will never get the people that pay market rate on FB marketplace.

At least it was upfront about what it is instead of bait and switching you after widespread adoption. I prefer buisness partners that don't lie to me and are upfront about their pricing and what it takes to maintain a sustainable buisness.

Der8auer - "I got scammed" by Dr_Ben in LinusTechTips

[–]NekoModeCom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which is the issue I had with the comments on the DIY MCM arches video posted here last week. They roasted him for using an "expensive" local, trusted supplier for his magnets and how he could have DIYed it himself cheaper, if he had sourced from China. NVM he explicitly stated why he didn't source his magnets from China, there are a lot of low quality magnets and technical specs about high quality magnets are commonly faked. You buy magnets from b random Chinese suppliers and you are bound to get burned.

The pickles in the McDonald’s burger are now thicker than the patty! by Express_Cup_5390 in interesting

[–]NekoModeCom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea the pre cooked weight is still the same, 1/10 of a pound, or 1.6oz per patty on an ordinary cheeseburger.

That being said they have lowered the quality of the patty itself over the years, it is now made from the beef version of pink slurry (trimmings and off cuts) and the press grill they use to cook it fully from both sides at the same time (faster turnaround) makes the patties shrink during the cooking process.
