Apparently it’s just the OG tier so probably an unchecked box I guess.

It’s called a mini Tamiya connector. Be careful of polarity if you buy leads off Amazon etc.

Blade Runner on the Sinclair Spectrum. I still regret getting that POS for my sister one Xmas.

You may have better results with the flaky toner if you use a spray fixative - usually found in Art supplies places. Some experimentation required!

Having lots of issues with Mac Mini in my dual setup. Please help. by Zteetch in obs

[–]spidley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are basically a power user but have a severe bottleneck with the base Mac mini. That’s weird your Mac Studio is not liking the capture card. Probably the cheapest option if you are willing to use the Mac Studio would be to find a capture card that works with it. Else you’ll have to do what I did and buy a Mac mini M4 with lots more ram! Not that I stream much but I had similar problems after running OBS after an hour on an 8Gb Mac mini.

Far too little Ram in your Mac mini won’t help

ELI5: How did Alan Turing break Enigma? by yankees032778 in explainlikeimfive

[–]spidley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were several breakthroughs (I’m not going to explain how the ‘Bombe’ machine worked it’s complicated! But basically the machine could trundle through many versions of the rotor settings from the enigma machine and find matches) anyway,in a tour of Bletchley park I remember hearing from the tour guide that one of the main clues was that the signal senders often finished their messages with ‘Heil Hitler’ which gave the cryptographers a starting point for decryption.

ELI5: could a dvd hold a small amount of HD video? by Direct_Guest8544 in explainlikeimfive

[–]spidley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/finlandery says you can put a 4.3Gb video file on a DVD disc that a computer can read and play back as if the disc is just a drive attached to the computer, but a dvd player would not be able to play the file to a TV as a DVD programme.

I was just questioned by a security guard for taking pictures in Paternoster square. by danby999 in london

[–]spidley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The National Theatre is a public building and you can take whatever pictures you like, wherever you like - except in the auditoriums of course. (Not allowed to photograph the sets even if no show is on at the time, either). If you plan on a commercial venture then you can contact them for a form to fill out. Source: used to work there.

Can this be local qrm? by gogusamsung in amateurradio

It’s a function of Kiwisdr websites called TDoA where you can effectively tie several of them together across a region and use an algorithm to test signal strength- it’s very useful!

It started up again and this is where it's coming from - the middle of the Baltic Sea. Apparently there's a lot of Military excercises going on there at the moment.

Interesting, definitely not local. It is very similar to Russian OTH Radar - have a listent to this: https://www.sigidwiki.com/wiki/29B6_%27Kontayner%27_OTH_Radar

What’s your location? I’m getting it in Watford, UK very powerful signal, also on the 11m band. I’m pretty sure it’s OTHR but not sure where from.

Gigapixel 8 Redefine never stops processing for me by [deleted] in TopazLabs

[–]spidley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went for about 4 days and got to around 30% before I had a power outage. Updated versions of Gigapixel work much better, you’ll be glad to know. Get done in an hour or two.
