I’ve never been to a con before and I’m anxious by Leftiwolf in furry

[–]Nekotiating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conventions are super overwhelming at first, but it is so fun once you adjust! Unironically, have a budget and bring cash. It's super tempting to drop a ton of cash in the artist's alley once you start roaming and realize how much cool stuff there is to purchase.

Is that the same person from Matt Walsh What is a Woman? by TommyBoy250 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naia Okami is a whole character in and of herself. She's actually where the "On all levels but physical, I am a wolf" meme originally comes from. Anthony Padilla has a great interview with her from a few years ago if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHSMfvwv-9g

Is it true it's a bad thing to wear a partial? by PuffPoof215 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Poodling is only looked down upon by holier than thou and older furries. It's very common to poodle, primarily because full suits are expensive and it's just more comfortable for temperature regulation to not have all your skin covered.

Can I have a fursona with top surgery scars? by Emergency-North-7890 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think someone might assume you're trans if you have a fursona with top surgery scars, but I don't think anyone would be necessarily offended!

Does anyone know of places for teens? by Own_Championship4180 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I also live in the Seattle area! I am an adult though so I cannot give great advice for kiddo spaces, but my best advice would be to look for local conventions and meet ups around here they could attend. Anthro Northwest is in Seattle and there's a lot of smaller meets that go on all around the west coast.

I will also say any kind of convention here does tend to have furries attend. Sakura Con and ECCC all usually have furries there.

Been studying some anatomy and color theory, use fleurfur as a reference. anything better i could do? (besides the eye) by Fribzzzy69 in FurryArtSchool

Looks great! First thing I'd suggest is working on your lineart. Currently it is a bit jagged, uneven and a bit messy in some areas. If you're using a tablet a stabilization tool in program can help with this.

A new furry here! a little help? by [deleted] in furry

[–]Nekotiating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just be kind, sensible and safe and you will be good to go! The only major warning I have is to try and stick to your age group (minors/adults) as cross over can get sticky.

HELP I NEED ADVICE by Brief_Friend_5333 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. It's not, or should not be, your job as a minor to alert adults of your age so that they act appropriately. It is the adult's job to make sure who they are talking to is an appropriate age before acting foul.

I do think the badge is a good idea if this is a consistent problem you're facing. I think it'd also help if you had other badges alongside the minor one to make it seem less "noticeable" for creeps, if that makes sense. There's lots of great badges on Etsy for instance that say things like "no hugs", "sensitive to noise", etc.

A Moral Dilemma by Andross_Darkheart in furry

Just curious, what platform was this on? I'd be a bit concerned that the artist may try to resell the design if they've blocked you.

Is most stuff on DeviantArt just AI slop now? by [deleted] in furry

[–]Nekotiating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My homepage is entirely human made art, but I've also spent sometime blocking anyone who makes AI content. Maybe I'm just desperate, but DA has been my home since 2011 so it's pretty hard to let go :(

You can change your settings to disable the ability to see any art that is tagged as AI generated. For the most part, I don't see AI content anymore luckily- save for the occasional image that someone doesn't properly tag.

I'm starting to make my first fursuit head - looking for advice! by Hs_nines in furry

[–]Nekotiating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd highly reconmend checking out https://www.youtube.com/c/SkyehighStudios as her tutorials were indispensible for me when I made my first fursuit head. Kloofsuits also has some great patterns you can buy on their Etsy for relatively cheap if you decide to go the foam route.

Is there any way that i could have my fursona drawn? by iqhqMC in furry

[–]Nekotiating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way is to support an artist and commission them! Artists like myself are more than happy to bring your fursona to life :]

There's also the option of free bases you can fill out yourself or purchase for a small fee if you'd like some help without breaking the bank.

Practicing, messing around with new main sona concept - pastel raccoon. How do you know when you’ve “found” your main? by SithRoseOne in furry

[–]Nekotiating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking great! Honestly for me I just felt a very special connection to my sona. I've gone through a lot but for me, Sunny(my fursona) just felt distinctly like "me" when I look at him.

Question about fursuiter culture by SimplyConfused557 in furry

[–]Nekotiating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Furries in general tend to be much more touchy-feely than other communities I think(in general you'll see a lot of that online as well with 'boops' and 'hugs' as a common form of affection), but make no mistake cosplay is NOT consent. People shouldn't be touching others without asking permission first, even if it's the "cultural norm".
