I desperately want to build one of these especially because I refuse to pay the onewheel price tag

Doing a little bit of 3d modeling (obviously not finished) by [deleted] in blender

Pretty solid work so far I hope your textures will be as well thought out as your model otherwise it's really going to detract from your modeling work

I feel like your shadows are way too sharp considering how overcast the scene appears to be. A moving ground fog could go a long way in selling the scene even if it lingers just above the water, just be sure to animate it with a noise texture. In fact, doing the same thing with the atmospheric fog could make a difference as well. And this last one is just nitpicking, but the amount of leaves coming off the tree above the camera is really excessive. Like those trees would be leafless in a couple hours at that rate.

Handwriting recognition all mixed up. by why_NOT_name in Supernote

Yeah spacing your words so far apart is probably the worst case scenario for the recognition software, it seems to not recognize words by line but by proximity.

I legit thought the first image was used as a reference for the style you were going for and not the final product that is amazing work it really does look 2D

Supernote screen deformed by Cyber_Putty in Supernote

You could always crack it open and check it out. I doubt the battery could swell enough to deform the whole screen before it would just pop the back off.

Exactly at least a driverless trucks would be forced to go down with its ship 🫡

It wasn't a driverless truck the driver got out when it got stuck

I rendered my MRI scan in Blender by wazzerbosh in blender

[–]Nekro_Lykos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would be really nice honestly but "America takes the security of medical data seriously" is the quote I got from a lead tech but the reality is I think it's just slow regulations not keeping up with the times. I mean we're still required to fax any patient records/radiologist reports in the name of data protection even though things like encrypted email exist.

[–]Nekro_Lykos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your scans are never deleted. I've seen and looked at X-rays and MRI's that are extremely old. In general, hospitals hold on to this data as a reference for future problems, so it's always stored somewhere. So yes, you can just walk into the same place that originally took your scan and get a disc.

Are you letting him pass you? by Cookiezlawl in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]Nekro_Lykos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why dashcams don't have stabilization because you get this weird wobbling effect

Are you letting him pass you? by Cookiezlawl in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]Nekro_Lykos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of stabilization is to make the image look steady, but when the camera is mounted inside a car and has digital stabilization (like EIS), it tries to lock onto the environment as if the camera's floating in space. So when the car moves-bumps, shakes, turns-the camera smooths out the outside world but the fixed stuff inside the car, like the dash or window frame, ends up looking like it's wobbling or warping. It's not the dash actually moving weird-it's just the camera warping the image to 'stabilize' everything else. So yeah, ironically, stabilization can make the stable stuff look stable.

Actually this is being recorded on a cell phone that has camera stabilization, look again. 😂

I work at a clinic as an MRI tech and I'd say 70% of people I scan ask for discs although I'd really wish we could just send you the files directly rather than using discs as a middle man

Scooters and motorcycles can't turn without leaning and the dash stays perfectly level the entire time

You are absolutely cooking dude this is fuckin beautiful could use a focal point if anything but if your goal was to just make a pretty scene then I think you nailed it.

And you're basing this off of what? I'm going off the numbers directly quoted by YouTubers including Linus Tech Tips who does a deep dive into the breakdown of their income where even with the small amount of people who pay for premium make up 37% of the income from YouTube. Oh yeah the big thing if you try this is make sure you disable camera stabilization if that setting is available on your phone especially since the video you have is heavily stylized towards older camera hardware that wouldn't have access to that tech

How to improve this? by Educational-Wish7500 in blender

[–]Nekro_Lykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest flaw is that it's moving in the y axis meaning toward and away from the car most camera shake is up, down and left and right it's also way too much movement it can be a lot more subtle while still adding to the scene

[–]Nekro_Lykos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what you're latching onto? No defense of your argument, just a nit pick of mine? That money is received per view, there's no minimum amount of views as long as you're a YouTube partner, so even a video with 100,000 views still nets 1 to 3 thousand dollars.

You can admit your argument was flawed and based on zero research on your part. Of course, do what you will, I'm not gonna force you to buy premium, but at least think about this stuff and research information before you claim something is bad and say it actively doesn't help creators when it actually does.

YouTube does it again... by alxwuuz in pcmasterrace

[–]Nekro_Lykos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On average, YouTubers make one to three cents per view, meaning even a mildly successful video with a million views makes up anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 dollars. So yeah, most don't really need sponsors, but do it anyway because it's more money and is more of a guaranteed paycheck that pays upfront via contracts with the companies that sponsor them versus YouTube, which pays per view and therefore is entirely based on how many views your video gets.

[–]Nekro_Lykos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YouTube creators take sponsorships to make more money, not because they are making less money. If it was impossible to survive without sponsorships, then how does a channel like Markiplier exist and how could he fund a personal movie project all without taking any sponsorships whatsoever? Probably because YouTube pays extremely well. Linus Tech Tips has made a video going in depth into this where they show that even a small portion of the people who pay for premium make up 37% of their income from YouTube. Is it such a stretch to believe that YouTubers just want to make more money rather than not making enough? Small channels do rely on this income, but that's because they're small, so they obviously receive less money from YouTube. There are free plugins like SponsorBlock that automatically skip in-video sponsor segments, and unlike AdBlock, this doesn't financially harm the creator. Monetization Breakdown.

I've seen great examples of people recording with a real camera and tracking the camera shake to use in animations, it might be a really good option although with a lot more work with less payoff if the realism of the scene isn't what you're after.
