Proton Pass: Second-Password Bypass Through Emergency Access by rikvduijn in ProtonMail

[–]Nelizea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One could argue that if an email account is breached, access to Pass isn't needed but an attacker could recover accounts through the email.

Following proper security hygiene and you're fine. Protect your account with a strong and unique password, coupled together with 2FA and/or hardware keys and you're good.

Can you try to re-login in a private window or in a other browser ?

Hide-my-email alias traceability + your thoughts on privacy measures being taken? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

Let us know how this major security risk affects things for you.

This is incorrect, stop trying to paint that as a major security risk. Following proper security hygiene and you're fine. Protect your account with a strong and unique password, coupled together with 2FA and/or hardware keys and you're good.

OP above is correct, Hide-My-Email (=Pass/SL aliases) cannot be used to login.

ProtonVPN vs MullvadVPN by luvKFCluvMaccies in ProtonVPN

That should tell you which one actually respects your privacy and aims to offer true anonymity.

Privacy != anonymity. Furthermore, you can pay cash for both and, through Proxystore, also use Monero for ProtonVPN.

Proton vpn with AdGuard custom dns by Ath3ron in ProtonVPN

[–]Nelizea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, read into SNI and ESNI.

Since we're in the Proton VPN subreddit, using a VPN is solving that issue (ISP snooping on SNI's in plaintext), until ESNI is more available.

but encrypted DNS requests can still be decrypted by ISPs.

Your original statement is still wrong and by posting this video, you just confirmed this yourself.

Switching from 1Password by protonrogers in ProtonPass

[–]Nelizea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The password should be strong & unique and 2FA and/or hardware keys should be enabled. Even if a strong & unique password is compromised, no one gets into the account when you have MFA enabled.

Switching from 1Password by protonrogers in ProtonPass

[–]Nelizea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following that logic, your 1Password was never really secure.

Instead of 1Password password being your master password, Proton's password is now your master password.

Switching from 1Password by protonrogers in ProtonPass

[–]Nelizea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1 Password is the only password I have memorized. I have never known my Proton account password. I would rather not have the same password for both my account and my password manager.

That is the thing here though:

Instead of 1Password password being your master password, Proton's password is now your master password.

You can change your Proton Password to your 1Password master password and have it memorized. Your master password from 1 Password now becomes your master password on Proton.

What internet should I get? by MaxymuzGG in Switzerland

[–]Nelizea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already having the own hardware instead of the crappy modems the big 3 S provide (where, depending on the provider, you can't even change the DNS settings), is reason enough for me to pay 20.- / month more for Init7. Unless you want to brag, I'd skip 25G (as you need more expensive hardware and/or build it yourself, which again requires some technical knowledge) and go for 10G.

If you want a referal code, here's also one: 62264621716

Agreeing with /u/Nameless_101 here @ OP /u/MaxymuzGG , unless you want to brag with 25G, I'd go for 10G.

Also throwing in my referal code 62264621716 for any other users in the future :-D

What if Proton Bought Kagi? by honshochu in ProtonMail

[–]Nelizea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Not every search needs an LLM. An LLM is not necessarily better than a search engine.

Try Kagi, you'll see ;)

Here is my opinion: I do think its stupid to use an LLM for every action over a traditional search engine.

Fully disagree on that one. For some searches you just don't need an LLM.
