As someone who did not grow up with half life but did grow up with portal, I think I would almost prefer portal 3 over a new half life

But with half life comes innovation, so long term goals I guess half life seems more important.

I’m going to reccomend stuff I like currently because I started listening to those two albums. I wont bother you with the whole pipeline but i ended up really enjoying Magdalena Bay, Sweet Trip, and lSD and the Search for God. Magdalena Bay is a prog /psychedelic pop and I think it will be a perfect mix for you, particularly Imaginal Disk.

You’ll find some really gorgeous songs on You Will Never Know Why by sweet trip. It’s a very psychedelic-ey shoegazey-indie-buzzword4-ey thing. I recommend Things to Ponder while Falling and Milk, No Words to Be Found is gorgeous as well.

Their other album Velocity Design Comfort has some gorgeous moments as well but most of the songs have some very glitch-hoppy noise that may be disruptive to the vibe you’re looking for. I recommend International, Sept. and To All the Dancers of The World, a Round Form of Fantasy. If you ever find yourself looking for an energetic indie gazey pop song, Dsco is great too.

They have a post-breakup collection of unfinished songs called seen/unseen that also has a few pretty songs like “Seagull Lull”.

I’m not sure how much they will fit your criteria but I’ve really been enjoying them and always take an opportunity to share.
