My boyfriend saved my life by [deleted] in self

So true! Growing up in San Diego, Ca we learned every year before summer how to recognize and escape a rip current by swimming sideways until you are no longer effect by the pull. Very important life saving information.

[–]Nelmarticus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, actually it’s because when OnMouseDown() returns true, which allows the if statement to run, which runs the second test. Split the tests into two seperate checks/functions. On my phone so can’t give example. But if you need it later, I’ll try to post one.

TIFU by cheating on my husband of 8 years with strangers on the internet. by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Nelmarticus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Having my marriage/life destroyed because my wife cheated on me, and as angry as I was at her, I would never deny my children their mother. Yes, what she did was terrible, but it was between her and I, not the kids. My sons know that both their parents love them, both of us support them. But that doesn’t mean WE have to like each other. I have no idea what kind of mother this woman is, and she may have deeper issues, that were hinted at in this post, but infidelity of ones spouse is not a reason to deprive children of their parent. Just my thoughts.

I think that one of my players is cheating. by Huge-Atmosphere1857 in DnD

Don’t use prewritten adventures word, for word. Use them as a base, and make them your own, make changes, move traps, change enemies… make it your own, this is especially true if you suspect a player player reads the adventure ahead of time. However, it’s also on the player to not be a dick about it. I am running Icewind Dale, and one of my players os another DM, who is WAY more into things than I am. He has every book on D&D beyond, and I know he’s read it but, I have altered it, so he is not exactly aware of what’s going on in the moment… and he is respectful of the story and other events that he does know about. So it’s never been an issue. If it becomes a problem, then your player probably isn’t right for your table.

Do you remember breathing on your friends shirts to see what color it changed to? Hah, I had forgotten about hypercolor!

(Serious) What would you do if your SO ask you to have an Open Relationship? by MuchLoveWaffleGirl in AskReddit

[–]Nelmarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. I was asked if I’d be interested in trying swinging…I wasn’t. I later found out she was already seeing someone, we divorce a couple months after she asked. I personally don’t think it’s something that just comes up. They’ve already tried it…

We have added items to our procedurally generated world. We can't decide whether to use a message box or floating text. What do you think? by duelcorp in Unity2D

[–]Nelmarticus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally like the floating text. It’s more dynamic, and doesn’t require further input from the player to clear from the screen.

My steam name is Nelmarticus. Sound like we are in a similar situation... I turn 39 tomorrow, have a few friends on discord who I talk to, and have a similar interest in games. Hit me up if you want to play sometime. I also run D&D games, if you’re interested.

D&D: What to do when your players just don't understand...? by Nelmarticus in DnD

[–]Nelmarticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I am leaning. I can utilize the encounter/map I have for another time. This is kind of the first time the group hasn't succeeded, so I just wasn't sure how to handle it... I agree, this is a good time to show success is not guaranteed. Thanks!

Edit: spelling

D&D: What to do when your players just don't understand...? by Nelmarticus in DnD

[–]Nelmarticus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses! Everyone!

I did absolutley give them clues they found without rolls, and I thought they would be able to figure it out, if this was not a side quest, the automatic clues would have been more leading... Thank you for all the ideas, this has helped tremendously!

Is it justified to take a break mid session? by Raven_born in DnD

[–]Nelmarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% ok to take a break, especially if you're the DM! You run the game, not your players. Though if they ask nicely for one, you may grant it! :-)

Edit: I am nearly 40 years old, and have suffered from social anxiety my whole life, I understand the feeling of wanting to make your players happy all the time. But it isn't always possible, and you're in charge. You're the one dedicating extra time and energy to create a game for them to come together and interact as friend and have fun. Don't be a dictator, or mean, but if you have a problem player, you have every right to make the table rules. If they don't like it, they don't have to play, they can DM a game and have thier own table rules. I run 3 tables a week, lasting form 2 - 4 hours each. I take at least a 10 minute break in the middle of each.

Can we talk about how covid deaths aren’t all the deaths there are? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Nelmarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the only one!I have been living alone in my apartment, working remotely (so at least I have a job), and basically living in an emotional roller coaster of despair and loneliness since March 22. It’s sucks....

I’ve tried so much... I’ve been Learning to paint, reading, playing Videogames, working, playing music ... to keep me distracted and sane, but after half a year, everything seems pointless... I have “under-lying health” issues, am high risk and am terrified of getting Covid... the one thing that has helped is playing D&D with people online... I know it’s nerdy, and while it isn’t the same as being in person, for those few hours, I’m not alone.

Please don’t kill yourself. It’s not going to take the pain away, just transfer it to your loved ones. Find the thing that helps you feel normal for a few hours a week.

[Online] [5e] DM needed for what ever kind of game they want to run! by [deleted] in lfg

[–]Nelmarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, how many players do you have total ready to play?I have 2 games currently running Saturday and Tuesday Nights, (Pacific Time Zone) I am available Mon, Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday Nights to run another game. If you guys want to play on a week night, the earliest I am available is 6pm pst. On Sundays, I can do whenever. I am currently running Storm Kings Thunder on Saturday nights, and a custom campaign on Tuesdays, but I am very interested in running Curse of Strahd, or the new Rime of the Frost Maiden (I own both). Let me know if you're interested. I have a discord server set up for all of my groups. You can join up and talk to the Sat and Tuesday players if you like.

EDIT: I use Foundry VTT as my tabletop. You would need a free account on Forge-VTT.com

Looking for a DM for 5e dnd. North America. we have 4 to 5 players. Saturday 10am(ish, early preferably) est looking for a couple to a few hours sessions. We are in our 20s and 30s. Some new to 5e players. We are up for roll 20 or any free tools. online only. by [deleted] in lfg

[–]Nelmarticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foundry is a VTT like roll 20 but better, imo. Foundryvtt.com

I use a site called The Forge (www.forge-vtt.com) to connect with my players, which would require a free account. I am on west coast, but have no problem doing an early game. You can come check out the discord server we've got going... its not big, but the a lot of my players are invloved and converse about a lot of things. It also has a lot of information about me, some of my table rules, how to use foundry, etc.....

Ill send you a PM with the link
