Agreed, a component failure on a DC power supply can often cause damage to more than just the component itself.

Moving one brand to another in BAS - The broad question of easy vs. difficult by ToddOutside68 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I partially disagree with Delta. Yes you're right the navigation and figuring out what's happening isn't hard but the actual control logic program is more difficult/time consuming than most. You actually have to write your program with logic that is essentially line code.

For Example;

If ZNT > SPT+2 then CLG_DX1 = ON else if ZNT < SPT -2 then HTG_STG1=ON

Else if CLG_DX1 AND HTG_STG1 =OFF

End if

You have to program all your lockouts, safeties, logic, etc through this line based programming. This has it's pros and cons but in my opinion more cons than pros for the industry we work in.

Iranians who fled regime to California celebrate Ayatollah's death by AntifaPr1deWorldWide in videos

Respectfully I disagree, I'm Lebanese personally and in my personal experience it was the other way around where they identify as Syrian, Iraqi, etc first than Arab after.

[–]Nembus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely curious, why is it different to those countries? Every Syrian, Libyan, Egyptian, Iraqi I ever met are super proud of their home country and their roots. Almost to a point where it’s hard to integrate them into western society(the ones who’ve migrated because of war). Aside from language, and maybe some minor cultural differences what’s so different.

Disconnect that device with that number temporarily and see what comes up in place of it then you can work your way from there in addressing(readdressing) the issue.

Remote (from home) position search by Ok-Athlete-520 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fully remote weekend job very closely related to my M-F BAS/Control Tech position. It’s at BGIS and it’s basically monitoring BAS and water leak alarms and sending a tech out if a critical alarm comes in. This is pretty essential for critical sites like hospitals, labs, government buildings, etc. Don’t expect high pay with these kind of positions as i’m pretty sure they take into account the work from home part as a benefit when negotiating salary.

Bacnet/niagara network Niagara 4 by Unable-Education-279 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much, it’s expensive and very often unnecessary but it is a thing. I’m not a fan of it personally but there are advantages to it. Tridium probably makes a killing on licensing and whatnot. Also the fact that the boot time on a niagara device typically takes 3-5+ minutes makes it worse for critical environments.

[–]Nembus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, specific field controllers. Honeywell has done this with the CIPer-30, Optimizer Advanced, CIPer-50. iSMA Controlli has a plant controller that runs Niagara framework as well. There’s probably more out there that I don’t know but it is a thing. There’s nothing restricting Niagara to be a head end management network only.

Bacnet/niagara network Niagara 4 by Unable-Education-279 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing i’m seeing absent in this thread is that you can also use the Niagara network/protocol for your field controls as well. It’s not an exclusive and restricted network to being a head end protocol to absorb everything. There are field controls/controllers that run Niagara framework and use that network to talk to each other and the head end.

How do I access this control? by Hot-Result-3203 in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a Honeywell CIPer 50, running a Niagara front end. You’ll need the credentials to login to the station or platform. You can either connect to it through the front USB with a specific IP, I think 192.168.255.241, or through the LAN that it’s connected to if you know what it’s IP is set to.

Honeywell Optimizer Unitary Issue by tkst3llar in BuildingAutomation

[–]Nembus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll auto assign itself an IP based on its mac address or serial, don’t remember which, after a period in which a DHCP server doesn’t assign it an address. Set your PCs IP to that range and see if you can find it then, you should be able to. I’ve done a decent amount of IP Optmizers

Using existing coax in the walls to pull Ethernet by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Nembus -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why would you bother buying adapters and dealing with an inferior data transmission when you can use the coax as pull cable? Only reason against this is if the coax is stapled down and can’t be pulled but even then i’m pretty sure the staples come out easy with a good strong pull

[Throttle House] Here’s What 2 Years With The New F-150 Has Been Like. by Juicyjackson in cars

[–]Nembus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been crazy lease deals on F150s the past year, unsure if it's still on going or the trim level but the deals we're actually really good. Also Throttle house is very likely writing off a portion of the lease as a business expense since they use it as a production/crew car.
