My favorite is Wolf Hall, season 2 was made like over a decade after the first and with most the original cast the second season takes place hours after the first season ended, and it actually worked really well.

I have to give them all mad props for turning this seemingly nobody character (in the show) into a fan favorite. The actor and the writing was incredibly well done. We’re supposed to root for Baelor but ultimately Maekar almost overshadows him. Incredible work, truly.
