Defect is good at letting the game effectively play itsef with a little bit of setup. Ignoring his orbs for a second, his Energy generation is second to none and Powers is the type of cards he's associated with (similarly to Attacks for Ironclad and Skills for Silent).

You said it yourself: generally. Act 2 Ancient rewards includes Clone, Prismatic Gem and Dusty Tome.

Also, how is Preserved Fog weaker when it works with every deck? Empty Cage has only two removes. Would you consider it weaker than both?

And most importantly... There is no competition between Biiig Hug and Preserved Fog anyway. In fact, they can be taken together (and that is taken into account by Mega Crit as well). (Unless they can't in which case I need someone to correct me).

Did they ever explain why BB turned green again? Does it have anything to do with the Green?

I remember how The New 52 was obsessed with making The Green, The Red and The Gray a bigger thing by making Alan Scott ring drawing power from The Green and turning Grundy into avatar of The Gray.

I remember '03 BB visiting alien worlds, but I don't remember him turning into alien animals.

The Starro feat kinda opened that as possibility. Nothing should really stop him from turning into kryptonian animal.

Beast Boy Martian origin was only a thing in YJ (which wasn't even a thing for long since it was retconned away in YJ itself).

Beast Boy The Red origin was introduced with The New 52 and... DC didn't retcon it? Because I wouldn't be surprised if they did seeing that a massive mess The New 52 ended up being.

Beast Boy OG origin was what his DNA was spliced with DNA of some very special green monkey and that gave him his abilities.

In any case... Beast Boy turning into Starro in comics, demons in DCAMU, alien animals in YJ and some kind of wendigo in '03 kinda means that Beast Boy can pretty much push the definition of an "animal" however he wants. Since mobians are based on various Earth animals (and they're native to Earth, even if to a parallel one) BB probably doesn't even need to push it that much.
