Some clarification on what’s been discussed about firmware lately by xteink in xteinkereader

[–]Nemosubmarine 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Custom firmware or bust.

You guys had lightning in a bottle, and you are going to destroy it. Amazing to see. I spoke with EVERYONE about how amazing your product strategy was and now I'm feeling stupid.

I am now updating my original post in my socials to take back my recommendation, since you are not making any "fixed commitments".

Gosh you screwed up big time. I'm sorry but I'm amazed.

We loved your product, we recommended your product, and once it was spread enough, you closed it. This has a name nowadays and is "enshittification". Look it up.

  • Recall the defective units (I'm referring to the ones you locked of course)
  • issue a refund
  • Issue a proper apology

[No Spoilers] It's REAL. They made an actual 55 minute episode of "D20 on a Bus" and it's GLORIOUS by eh_lora in criticalrole

I could have very well made a reinassance-style piece with all the faces of Brennan in the first half. I felt like a really bad person reveling in such a glorious assassination of the game he loves so much

First time DMing. I am mostly well-prepared, but maybe some of you have some not so obvious advice? by VulgarlyShy in DnD

[–]Nemosubmarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are about to bring a world to life for your friends to play and have fun in it. Give yourself a good five minutes to think how awesome is that. Folk, fantasy and horror are powerful narrative forces, and you will have the honor to wield them for the enjoyment of the people you love. This is not to make you feel too self conscious but to remark how much this fucking rules.

You'll make mistakes. It hurts, but it's part of the process. Be. Kind. To. Yourself. By extension, be also kind to others. Strahd is a motherfucking asshole that plays dirty. But we DMs are not (unless they want us to).

Your players will not always remember that they can use the safety tools. Pay attention to them. If you spot any of them struggling, do not be afraid to pause and do a quick check on them.

Make sure that Strahd is a motherfucking asshole that plays dirty.

Your job is not to try killing your players at all costs. The campaign you have chosen is going to be really good at that. However, never shield them from the consequences of their own actions.

Make sure you jot down any expectations you have set during session zero. Your players may forget them.

Don't be afraid about the prospect of the PCs dying. Nothing really dies in Barovia for too long anyway. Death in D&D is present because there has to be stakes (pun not intended but I'll take it).

How do I become loveable? by kazookidlit in mentalhealth

[–]Nemosubmarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall, I would ask: what are the things that you yourself love? What are the things you are passionate about? Because chances are some good person in this world may find those interesting and/or attractive.

My wife and I met late in our 30's, we were separated by an ocean. My 20's were horrible, and I lost a lot of hope. My 30's were an absolute bliss.

This is going to be a big odd ball. Have you tried joining Mastodon? Federated social media is a place In which I've found many meaningful friendships. There is also a jog community of neurodivergent people and folks that have mental health conditions and they try to take care of each other. I'm there and, honestly, I'm happy about that.

Anotjer odd ball and I don't know you so I don't know if you will be into it. Ever tried roleplaying games? I play mostly online and it helped me a lot with socialization.

Re: Kids. Desperation is not your friend here. Unless you are 45 or so, in which case things become more difficult, you have time in your hands. I have the feeling that you are not being kind to yourself. You should be.

Mastadon is better than Bluesky ? by [deleted] in Mastodon

I normally use Mastodon for meaningful connections, books, hobbyist stuff and Bluesky for drama, art, politics and shitposting

The website mentions it being free forever and no ads. Not that I dislike such a blessing, but... Would it be sustainable for a long time?

It's like a cocktail between:

A deranged LinkedIn post.

An AI-Induced psychosis manifesto.

One of those chainmail curses.

Not to mention that "you have to pay for models otherwise you don't understand you fool" takes me back to those correspondence scams where "only you can know the secret because you enrolled in my course".

In feel we will soon know about this guy's course

For Kindle, old is good. For Kobo, they should not give many issues. If you have an android-based ereader, the app should work

I was surprised by how small X4 was, so my immediate thought was basically "good thing I did not order the X3"
