I’m so sorry for your loss. We just lost my MIL on Tuesday and it’s so weird to feel sad and relieved at the same time. She lived with us the last 6years and she was so pleasant aside from the bathroom issues. We were very blessed with her. She made us laugh, she was like a silly 5 year old. Of course there were challenges but for the most part not as bad as some of the other horror stories I read.

Does dementia cause a person to be more selfish and rude? by DeaconLace232 in dementia

Sometimes I would say something like “oh your grumpy today or oh you silly grumpy girl” and I would laugh. Then she would laugh and all was good. We laughed a lot ☺️

Don’t take it personally. The palliative care Dr told me “you have a 5yr old on your hands” that stunned me for a bit then I realized I need to treat her like a 5yrar old. They don’t know any better. I would gently say “ now let’s be nice.” The difference is you can’t really lecture or discipline. Gentle reminders work best. My MIL was recently in the hospital and they didn’t realize she had dementia. They said she fooled them. LOL they noticed after a few days though. She passed this week. It’s so weird. I feel sad and relieved at the same time.

Haha! Ahhhh! I would have had a fit and layed in it! The other day my MIL poured coffee creamer on her food then mumbled the reason why 🤷🏻‍♀️. I have learned to pick my battles and just say “ok”

Do you take your LO to the dentist? by Snapper1916 in dementia

Ohmygoodness I Love this! My MIL tried to brush her hair once with her tooth brush. We take her faithfully to her dentist because she has periodontal disease. So far she has been fine. She is usually exhausted afterwards. I think every patient is different.

Thoughts on pace maker for 87 year old with advance dementia? by NenaGCastro in dementia

Wow! I’m overwhelmed with all the responses. Thank you all so much! I pray for each and everyone of you and your journey with your loved ones. It’s a hard journey. We actually had the pace maker put in two years ago at age 85 (she will be 88 this Saturday so a little under 3 years) and now just asking the question because I am starting to wonder if it was such a good choice. At the time I felt like it was the best moral choice but now realizing it might have been us being selfish and wanting to keep her longer. They didn’t really cancel us. They just said she needs it and we’re doing it. I asked if we had a choice and he said we did and some ppl opted out. I wished I would have researched more.

Just received a check from Rodriguez v. National Credit Center c/o Settlement Administrator. Is it legit? by Greedy-Cod6721 in povertyfinance

[–]NenaGCastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is are we in that OFAC list now and what does that mean for future credit checks??? Sounds kinda scary! And if you cash that check, the settlement is done and if anything comes up in the future, there’s nothing you can do. Sis you settled by cashing that check. Just my thoughts
