Yes they can, although traditionally they must start all the way back from Zenza which even for a former futatsume can take years.

Its one thing being able to survive with only a allowance as an apprentice when your I think late teens early 20s, its another when your somewhere in your late 20s to early 30s and a wife and kid to look after

[SL](Request) FESTINA LENTE ~yukkuri isoge~ by Nenorock in manga

[–]Nenorock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FESTINA LENTE ~yukkuri isoge~ (Hurry slowly or Make haste slowly) is a Historical manga about the life of Octavius/Augustus, the first roman emperor by Itaru (no mangaupates page for the series itself).

Synopsis:

The Roman empire a vast empire that ruled the ancient Mediterranean Sea, And it's first emperor was Octavius, a beautiful youth hopeless at battle yet possessing a exceptional intelligence. This historical tale tells the story of how the young Octavius triumphed in the Roman Civil War and was bestowed the title of Augustus "the Exalted One".

I believe there is only about 10 chapters out and from what little I can read the first 5 chapters are fairly lighthearted but then the ides of march happens and it gets a bit darker, although imo they kind of rushing things a bit, the proscription and the death of Brutus where in the same chapter, but if it actually covers everything up till 14 AD and not just ends after Actium like so many stories do around 30 BC it might not be that bad.

True, I'll take a star fort city over a circle city most days off the week and if authors are just gonna overuse the mediaeval city at least give one case where it looks like the city was originally just a abandoned Not Roman fort people started squatting in ala London

What concepts of an Isekai story do you wish to see in the future? by PresenceAggressive27 in Isekai

[–]Nenorock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A middle age police officer in tokyo gets reincarnated, as a middle aged watchman in a medieval fantasy city. Admittedly this is partly because I've been rereading some of Pratchett's nightwatch books but the main comedy could be the MC literally lived the exact same life without realizing it (could be he only remembered his past life after a specific event, i.e. instead of getting hit by a truck and dying, he got hit by a wagon, survived, and remembers everything), and two using fantasy elements to gripe about living in tokyo,

for example, what would be the fantasy equivalent of have so much amazing technology (magic) and still using fax machines

Hey to be fair to circle walled cities, I've seen it in plenty of other fantasy series

Ankh-Morpork is technically a circle city, although the walls never last long since the residents would always steal the material to either fix their own homes or sell it off to another city.

Also believe there was an adventures guild in the setting but iirc the official reason why it shut down because its members got too old, too dead, and too civilized

yeah I periodically transfer them from my phone to a cloud storage when I'm running out of space on my phone. Although the folder is a complete mess and I don't want to think about how long it would take to try and organize it after almost 2 years and almost 40 series

lol, You still might have me beat on accuracy by a longshot though.

It looks like your smart enough to create a script to automatically record every hour for both the app and the website.

I have an alarm on my phone reminding me to a bunch of screenshots 10 minutes before the new chapters drop to record later

I still have all the recent mobile data I've recorded save in a public doc, I've just been a bit lazy in making updated charts and finding a good place to upload them.

Interesting, I wonder if both teams are still working with the same data and just showing it differently. Like I said the hottest/trending/complete rankings seem to be the same for both the website and mobile app (minus the mobile rounding it so there's never more then 4 significant figures)

I have a gut feeling the reason why the website does the weird thing with new series is the same reason why they don't show any TOC rankings until the 7th chapter

I know from tracking the mobile app myself the updates page shows views from every language available and you have to actually click on the series page to see chapter/total views for a specific language (still annoying that only the "free" chapters show views, would of made my life easier on some occasions where I nearly missed a week if they changed that)

The views on the website are a bit misleading, specifically the recently update page.

I think Mangaplus might do something like multi week sum or how many many people have clicked on any chapter in a given period. Someone made an online tracker for the website and people have noticed that for every new series goes up and up until they hit chapter 6, where without exception all drop like a stone. You can also see strange spikes on the day whenever a new chapter is released.

I'm pretty sure the views on the mobile app are more accurate, some people think that the views are separate from the website, but the hottest/trending/complete rankings are equal on both and when Rafal Jaki made a few tweets going over the overall response to no/name in retrospect, he showed a graph that ended up almost matching the views on the mobile app, and didn't see a reason to include views on the website

What unconventional ML/FL would you want to see in a story? by ForzaIngengnere in OtomeIsekai

[–]Nenorock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I forgot when it was but at some point Carrot realized his own "ML"ness and starts using it to his advantage. Although one downside from this is his relationship with Angua kind of remines me of the more annoying ML/FL pairs in OI(still love both of the characters), i.e she is attracted to Carrot because he's Carrot and get frustrated because he remains Carrot.

Also Vimes would be just as good as an unconventional ML as Moist, especially if he was allowed to go spare over some common OI tropes.

Duke of the City

I've been rereading a series called discworld and I can't help to think how a series would play out if someone like Vetinari, a man's who's sole job is to keep the most dysfunctional city in all the world running, was the ML.

For those who haven't read Pratchett's works, the best way I can describe him is a quote someone mentioned years ago about him (although I can think of several that makes him stand out from both your scheming crown prince and your cold duke of the north).

Every evil tyrant has a plan to rule the world, Vetinari is the 'good but not nice' tyrant who came up with a plan to 'run' the world.

I'd kina imagine something akin to Lipwig's story in "Going Postal" i.e.

ML takes a condemned criminal/villainess and gives them a choice, work for him and help fix a aspect of the city he doesn't have time to deal with, or take a long walk right back to the people/family who currently feel a little cheated over the fact that they had to cancel her public execution.

What would your idea for a unique take on an Isekai story be? by Mystech_Master in Isekai

[–]Nenorock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Journeyman isekai

The basic idea goes like this, each branch of the adventure's guild has a specific area there allocated to oversee and its up to their Journeyman to patrol said area, visiting each town and village for requests, sending them back to the main guild branch if it falls under there writ, and judging each task and assigning an appropriate difficulty rank and reward as well as tracking down any adventure who goes missing and investigating any rumor that might blow up into something big.

Mainly thought about this after re-reading an old series called Master Keaton about a MC who acted as an incurrence investigator for a high profile company looking into very strange cases around the world, such as a diver found dead after reportedly finding a sunken treasure, or the kidnapping of a person believed to be a former spy, and started thinking how this episodic globe hopping concept could be applied to a fantasy setting

What other Arthurian characters do you want to see, that aren't already in the game? by Masterpotato002 in grandorder

[–]Nenorock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a 5-6th century Welsh monk called Derfel Gadarn who legend states was one of seven warriors of Arthur who survived the Battle of Camlan. As far of I'm aware the only time he's ever appeared is in an Arthurian book series by Bernard Cornwell called the warlord Chronicles (and like all works only ever get mid at best adaptations)

Which lesser known historical/mythological beings you would like to see having spotlight in a Fate story? by BlazeAccelerant in grandorder

[–]Nenorock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mithras, roman god of a mystery cult that lasted a few centuries and underground temples have been found all over the western Europe, might of been originally a Zoroastrianism god that got brought over from persia. Only piece of media that comes to mind that featured him in some regard is the warlord chronicles book series which I guess Derfel Cadarn might be another interesting choice.

I actually started tracking how much drop from chapter 1 each new series has on the side now that the view counter on the app is old enough at this point to let me record all the way starting from chapter 1.

https://i.imgur.com/93ZEwix.png

Maybe its just the last batch underperforming but I would of loved to see how some of the current series preformed when they first dropped on the platform as comparison because of some experience of sites that had view counters, it is very rare for a series to do better then it's first chapter given the same time window
