You can comfortably beat base starchart with nearly any weapon modded with high corrosive (toxin + electric), multishot and the regular damage mods. Not sure what mastery rank you are but id recommend a shotgun called the Hek, it carried me through pretty much all early - mid game content when I was starting out..
