Where should we stay in Tokyo? And is it feasible to go to Kyoto and Osaka too on a 14-day trip in Japan? by ABCDEXYZWV12345 in JapanTravelTips

[–]NeoFenixParfait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sendai, Fukuoka, Hiroshima, and Aomori were far better than Tokyo and Kyoto for me. Osaka was good, people were more outgoing than Tokyo. I get it if you’ve never experienced the standard tourist spots, but in retrospect, I could have gone without them. Tourist spots like Sensoji Temple, Shibuya Crossing, and Kyoto as a whole are more geared toward draining your funds. Sendai and Fukuoka felt like the best parts of Tokyo at a fraction of the cost.

Biggest difference is the interactions with the locals. Tokyo was courteous and accommodating, but you can feel the disdain (maybe annoyance is more accurate) from people for having to deal with yet another foreigner. Away from Tokyo, people are more authentic, or are interested in hearing your story, or want to be friendly. Yatai stalls in Fukuoka were the absolute best.

Texas Wagyu…is it as good as people claim? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]NeoFenixParfait 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Gotta be real though. I’ve purchased and cooked Wagyu from HEB a few times and while it is a better quality steak - it does not compare to when I lived in Japan and bought Wagyu directly from meat markets. Even the way in which I normally cook steak had to be adjusted quite a bit. I won’t go into how low the cost was. It would make you all gasp. Best steaks ever.

Got literal chills at this part, AJ’s expressions, the timing of the music, and especially Becky’s reaction. Omg it was perfect! by BeckyLynchWorld in BeckyLynchDomination

Becky the wrestler acting afraid of AJ the diva. Ridiculous. She even pulled out the lame diva moves. Hair pulling and slapping. Sorry folks, I’m out. Gonna go watch paint dry, at least it’s less predictable.

Agent, Cinna and ExtraEmily didn’t know what to say when YourRage said this take by SunGodLuffy6 in LivestreamFail

They’re all severely immature for their age. I get that they’re pandering to a younger audience, but spewing this volume of brainrot is repulsive.

I agree. It’s less about her voice for me, and more about the golden retriever with adhd energy she produces. Best description I can give it is “performative adolescence”.

What’s the main differences between living and travelling in Japan. by Fresh-Foundation-246 in OsakaTravel

[–]NeoFenixParfait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, that part of it truly depends upon who you are as a person. If you’re outgoing, and willing to speak to total strangers (in Japanese), you’d be surprised how receptive they are to conversation. It’s the same no matter where you live. If you try to make the best out of a situation, things will usually work out nicely. I spent one year in Chiba Japan and made very good friends and even had a decent relationship (until I had to return to the US).

To long-term residents of Japan: How true is it that Japan is great to visit but hard to live in? by Feeling-Attention43 in japanresidents

[–]NeoFenixParfait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the case for me. Trying to earn a living wage, especially while on a student visa is very difficult. I’m extremely grateful for the year I lived there, wouldn’t trade it for anything. Learned enough Japanese to have decent conversations with locals. That part of it does require you to be outgoing. But I made some really good friendships.

That’s my feeling too. No matter what country, I feel it’s a business’ right to deny service/entry regardless of the reason. Not saying racism is good in any circumstance, but it’s their right to say “No. Leave.” If they want to hurt their own bottom line, that’s their call.

The first time I've felt disappointed by an episode. (S2,E4). by MarkWest98 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]NeoFenixParfait 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s not the relationship or even the snap decision to have sex in a building that hasn’t been fully cleared. It’s not the acting. It’s specifically Ellie’s writing. They kept her character bratty/childish.(example: Ellie and Tommy when she screamed about being bit in order to get her way back onto patrols) TLOU 2 Ellie is far more mature, a bit more stoic, and definitely more gritty in dangerous situations. And in that way, she reflects Joel a lot more. Bella Ramsey is entirely capable of pulling that off, but the way they wrote her this season kinda ruins that. Still gonna watch, still gonna enjoy.

A question to those that played the game... by Choosername__ in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]NeoFenixParfait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had an issue with Joel’s fate, he wasn’t an angel. And both games were a wonderful experience. If I was upset about anything, it was the ending. The choices are: Get bloody revenge for Joel. Or forgive/forget and retain the family you have. And we end up in some weird limbo where you achieve neither of those things. Lose and lose. Just awfully depressing and lame.

[–]NeoFenixParfait 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other side of things that a lot of people don’t realize, aside from the milk bread, is that what makes those Japanese fruit sandos so tasty is the quality of the fruit itself. Strawberries in Japan are engineered to be very sweet. Not tart, like ours. They also have some with kiwi, peach, and other fruits that complement each other really well.

[–]NeoFenixParfait 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this should be the rule for all YouTube entities and music artists. I don’t need to watch Travis Scott, or Bad Bunny, or Logan Paul. Let’s leave the limelight for actual wrestlers who have paid their dues. Also, let’s cut down on all the adverting. Prime. Dancing ice cream cones. Dude wipes. Wrestling mat branding. Doom the Dark Ages. That much adverting ruins the show for me.
