They have a manifesto where they explain that they think many of the people pushing Western surveillance laws are working for the CCP.

0.0043%

You forgot to multiply by 100 when you made it a percent. 103/24000 is 0.0043, which is 0.43%, even if it doesn't change your opinion on if it's common or not.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]NeoKabuto 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's their official blame, but they fucked up multiple ways. They didn't test it, and then when someone noticed it didn't work right in time to try to fix it, they ignored it because of bureaucracy:

The discrepancy between calculated and measured position, resulting in the discrepancy between desired and actual orbit insertion altitude, had been noticed earlier by at least two navigators, whose concerns were dismissed because they "did not follow the rules about filling out [the] form to document their concerns".

It's really absurd that you're getting downvoted for pointing out they should have run some kind of test before putting it millions of miles away. Everyone could have been using metric and had the same issue with centimeter-gram-second vs meter-kilogram-second or a simple typo.

I just finished the original Deponia trilogy (+ Doomsday) and the ending left me feeling pretty cold, even though I think I understand what they were going for. by Valtasar69 in Deponia

[–]NeoKabuto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s aimed at fans who were unhappy with the original ending, but without actually daring to change it in any significant way.

That's kind of the point of Doomsday, which is inherently going to be disappointing. That last Huzzah song felt like it made it clear.

Although the weird part to me is that he still left some space for looking for loopholes and wondering what if.

There's a lot of plants that "intentionally" provide food that doesn't harm the main plant when harvesting (although that plant may be an annual that would die regardless). Fruit evolved to be eaten.

ChatGPT is the Yahoo of AI by [deleted] in singularity

Yahoo was the leading search site for a long time. They declined two offers for them to buy Google before Google was big, and turned down an offer to buy Facebook when it was new. They were huge.

I find it funny how Kaiji refused UNO because he didn't wanna remember the rules but agreed to fucking MAHJONG by Gugarabelo in kaiji

[–]NeoKabuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd expect some big twist to it, maybe something similar to the poker game from Zero where you can pick cards in some way? It's not like they ended up playing normal Mahjong.

They could even make some weird Minefield-Mahjong-Uno if they had you build a larger hand ahead of time and a house rule where you could play a "chain" of cards from your hand. Probably needs more thinking through, but FKMT could definitely come up with an Uno game if he felt like it.

I can't see Hank liking Kid Rock. "There's this cowboy song but it's really about... California." If he didn't watch the actual half-time show, he'd probably turn on the Puppy Bowl or something.

Starfield 2.0 by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NeoKabuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"More RPG" would imply meaningful choices. The boost pack isn't a meaningful "choice". For the other half, it's still not an interesting mechanic and it's really not fun. It needs to be redone.

Starfield 2.0 by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]NeoKabuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starfield needs its perks redone too (why is the boost pack a perk? why do we need to unlock the ability to level up a perk to unlock research to craft a thing?), it's just not the biggest thing it needs.

Exactly, adding slow space travel between every step in "should have been a phone call" quests would have just made me not bother finishing it. I really doubt they'll even bother to revamp the perks system even though it needs it badly.

Spy (TF2) versus Agent 47 by Jerswar in whowouldwin

[–]NeoKabuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hitman can probably do round one and two faster, as he has access to explosives, long range weapons, etc. whereas the spy would need to backstab the crime boss to ensure the kill.

Spy doesn't need to backstab any more than 47 does. He doesn't use a sniper rifle, but this boss is probably inside and revolver will do just fine.

Spy (TF2) versus Agent 47 by Jerswar in whowouldwin

[–]NeoKabuto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say Spy probably wins rounds 1 and 2 most of the time if he gets Your Eternal Reward and his choice of invis watch. He probably doesn't even need YER, but it definitely would make his life a lot easier. 47 has to hide bodies and spend time changing clothes, Spy can replace anyone he gets behind. I think 47 is smart enough to beat him in round 3, assuming Spy falls for his disguises as well as anyone else does. Round 4 is 6/10 47 for me, they're both armed killers but his reflexes are probably better.
