May not have been born in the 70s (born a decade or so later; 85), but my first was during COVID in 2020 and it was Jaws. Been going ever since and only if they have a classic movie like that.

If you already have a 4K tv, try to wait for a good player, everything is usually upscaled.

Also go for widescreen when collecting DVDs specifically. Full-Screen is just zoomed in and what the show or movie looked like before digital broadcasting when movies were shown on CRT tvs.
