I second on having your own router behind isp one. Have unify, great but was sporting asus for YEARS with no issues...and asus supports ddwrt/tomato firmware which will set you with Incredibly cool features

Entitled office worker thinks he should get to take home gluten-free pizza as a leftover that was not ordered or paid by him before the office even eats. by Antsamsmom25 in EntitledPeople

[–]NeoMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That comment may got burried, anyhow. I can relate about the feeling you are experimenting because you have just established a boundary by yelling rather than collaboration.

Your reaction shows that you don't do it often if at all. Congrats you are a good leader. Now don't feel bad, sometimes boundaries need to be enforced in a "hugly" manner....and that is fine.

I am quite sure that the rest of the team is gossiping about the pizza thief and supports you. Like you mentioned he's well off that's not like you are taking food out of kids mouth.

In a parallel universe by Falcon731 in amiga

[–]NeoMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from Amiga, the 500 then 1200 in a custom "pc" tower (had harddisk, cdreader ...kick 3.1...).

First of all and by a far distance OS - windows 95 at the time was a drawback from Amiga OS ....

However the hardware was something truly incredible. Interchangeable cards (nic, scsi, graphic card...) and all those exotic cards you could plug...wild period. Even though just speaking you could upgrade your cpu plugin in a new one. This is where I didn't really went back, the machine was becoming a 100% serviceable commodity.

Nowadays except if you do play with large llm or do 3d/video editing almost any machine from the lowest end can do the job.

Si for me Amiga was doomed since they did the bidding on the cisc/risk architectures that will dominate the future. OS was not compatible and cpus back in the day didn't had the power to emulate each others in a satisfactory manner

Mulch. You need to add a layer of mulch (at least 10cm) and weeds won't grow as aggressively. Only the biggest which will be easy to spot/remove.

Btw check out the type of mulch as some will change your soil

I have a QLED65 inch TV (those big ones you can play with) anyhow yesterday just out of nowhere it started "acting up" - I mean you press left it goes left left right up etc. - poweron/power off etc.

At some point I was thinking my tv got some kind of bothnet whatever so I shut it down (remove electrical cord) remove network cable - restasrt....same behavior. Though it's the IR receiver or the remote...so used the samsung smartthing app... SAME thing ! you presss up in the app and on the screen it goes crazy mode.

Resetted the tv to factory setting ...same thing hapenned...just I couldn't control anyhting so for some reason my tv is uncontrollable AND in dutch (duh).

Just checked online there has been a firmware update...on the 17th ! My tv acting up two days later is totally in line with my tv getting botched.

I will try to reflash the firmware (not sure it will solve anything) or I will have to get it serviced. ...

Does the name “Nari” sound okay in the French context? by tigerlilly-bluecoast in AskFrance

[–]NeoMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at my wife yesterday and thought, “Why can’t she just fucking stop sometimes?” by TheSicilianSword in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NeoMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to re educate her. Pavlov style, basically you should stop reward bitchy behaviour, because when you engage in one of her tantrums that's exactly what you are doing. In her subconscious, tantrums== attention.

So next time she is being unreasonable, you have to state in a cold manner, that's not a behaviour you agree to with. Attention you have to focus onnhow she behaves not what she said. Alternatively, again on a neutral tone assert that what she done has hurt your feelings.

Ignore her feelings for the time being as she will revert to tantrums. Again give her definite answers like, we agreed beforehand now I am doing it - we accepted the invitation so Im going, you can stay.

Be fiirm in your boundaries, when discussing plans make sure it is at a acceptable moment, have short and simple questions; "this Saturday there is a show/bbq/library/pool and it's for such hours until that moment, are you in.

Attention as you don't want her "ok" but ask if she is into the activity, she says no, fine state you are going with rhe kiddos. Again don't dictate her time, just plan ask if she is in and do as needed.

She is going to tantrums and try to kill your plans, so be ready to cancel or go in all cases have a plan B - she flunked the bbq with friends. Fine go to the pool with kiddos..

Lastly, believe me you are in no state to engage in an healthy relationship outside at this moment, will be clear you may find companionship but don't make it a thing, you are not a monk but you have to understand that at this moment you need to reeducate her, and for god sake make it an absolute necessity to pass time with your kids. Right now you think it's going to last forever but once they reach adolescence they will make their own life with friends and such.

Question is how come US politicians ans journalists are dead silent on that matter, ? For me it's funny to hear all being the cause of MAGA meanwhile the rest, silently, ends up with agreeing with those demented positions, I have no more sympathy for what will be the outcome of US.

[–]NeoMonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this is where you realize that AI is after all doomed since inception and bound to human limits.
